I think it was a (one of many) country being used to launder money, bigtime, for the cabal.
Among other things, like a place to find/ensnare girls to feed into the global sex trade. A way point for drugs from Turkey/Iran/Afghanistan to move into Western Europe. A place to train operatives and soldiers to be used elsewhere. Etc.

I also think the deeper reason for involvement in Ukraine is that it is a step towards destabilizing Russia, weakening Russia, and ultimately 'conquering' Russia, which is the last big prize that is outside of Cabal control.
