Former House speaker and Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich made a lot of Democrats angry on Sunday by saying GOP members of the House committee investigating the January 6th violence at the Capitol would be jailed if Republicans retake the chamber this year.
His prediction was made on Fox News, for which he is a contributor.
He called the members of the 6 January committee “wolves [who] are going to find out that they’re now sheep”, saying if Republicans take control of Congress this year, “this is all going to come crashing down … they’re the ones who in fact, I think, face a real risk of jail for the kinds of laws they’re breaking.”
“You’re gonna have a Republican majority in the House, a Republican majority in the Senate. And all these people who’ve been so tough and so mean and so nasty are going to be delivered subpoenas for every document, every conversation, every tweet, every email,” Gingrich said.
