ScienceDirect.com has an article from the Journal of Food and Drug Analysis, Volume 22, Issue 1, March 2014, Pgs. 105-115, that says it can be acquired through dermal penetration (shedding?), and is also used in food packaging, processing, and preservation (magnetic meat?). The article does say it's magnetic. That's definitely got to be what's in the vaccine for drug delivery. And it can be highly toxic. I also think it said it helps to penetrate the blood-brain barrier.
