I'm only a quarter into Sliced Americana, but its good.. has a gentle push to considering everything you're about to read in light of our current real political situation.. Which I honestly haven't understood yet… waiting to see where it goes..
It quickly sets a pattern of going way "up" and then coming way "down" in breadth of perspective.. Many concise historical, scientific & philosophical nuggets of information and observation in the "up" sections… some of those nuggets over my head to be honest, but intriguing.. some very profound, and many that are expected but not insignificant. High paced and fresh juxtaposition of concepts.. the "down" sections are slow and characterize a sad intellectual with a half-baked, lost and/or disillusioned perspective, who is basically passive in life and has friends with taboo problems… a bit edgy for someone of conservative tastes, and I think that's the intention. Forces many readers to be confused about the narrating character.
Unusual amount of typos or grammatical error, yet consistently coherent and with rich vocabulary, and then I recall a weird reference to grammatical error via Chuck or someone at one point.. makes me wonder if its intentional and I should be paying attention to any of that, like.. What's Jim's Message, maaaan?? Enjoying it though..
