I'm assuming the balanced mean in people with expectancy on hopefully objective observations. In the old days, "assuming the mean" between two extremes used to be something virtuous. Either way, I still hold my convictions in that you shouldn't "always think the opposite", this will just create a blood bath. Avoid the temptation to just say the diametric opposite, leave that for paid agents with no sense of finesse. Never oppose someone for free.
