Any iconography that would unify across cultural divides would have to be the bedrock of the moral (and hence, legal) foundation in a Republic that survives generations, and be the example for which progression of all humanity would be based. Understanding the past for a frame of reference is one thing. Embracing unity as the trumping ideology (no matter the iconography chosen to represent it) is the only way humanity will move forward. That's why Christianity is integral. It accomplished exactly that without having to shift the entire Western theology towards something that would otherwise appear to be suspect. When the plan finally completes, historians will look back on how it was used in the movement, and marvel at just how magnificent and freeing it was from start to finish.
