>>15498140 - I posted this about the Voyager probes way back in December 2018 - From 1990, this is the episode Sail On, Voyager of the PBS series The Infinite Voyage. Though the quality is rather spotty due to having been copied from a VCR tape, this might well be the best documentary ever made on the Voyager space programme. Both Voyagers have officially left the solar system:

This is an historic accomplishment. Humanity has, for the first time in the history of the planet, left its mark outside of the confines of our solar system. Should something horrible cause humanity to be wiped out, the Voyager space probes will continue on until found by some alien species or smashed to dust in a collision somewhere in the vastness of space. We should pause to reflect on the existential meaning of this.
Both Voyager 1 & 2 took pictures of Jupiter and Saturn while only Voyager 2 got shots of Uranus and Neptune. Here is a computer simulation of Voyager 1 along with some tidbits of information (also Carl Sagan's Pale Blue Dot):

The two Voyagers generated 100,000 reels of survey data, enough information to keep researchers busy for a century. The original images are somewhat shaky and grainy but computer simulation can generate realistic images from them, giving us a stunning view of the outer planets that cannot be matched by even the most powerful telescopes:

The golden records carried by the Voyagers are meant to be interpreted by an alien species should one of them ever be found. If humanity succeeds in building a manned spacecraft capable of searching for the Voyagers, then it is pretty certain that we will bring them back and place them in a museum. After all, if we ourselves are out there, then the golden records no longer serve a purpose.
