I share your frustration with the older generations but they lived through some of the most pernicious propaganda ever seen and are all messed up with their beliefs as a result. They're not stupid, the system gamed them and turned them into sheep (mostly). Luckily, many of us are getting wise to the game. I hope so at least. Keep on fighting.
