A family of four migrants from India were found frozen to death on the Canadian side of the border last Wednesday after getting separated from the larger group of migrants they were with.

One of those who died was an infant, still in diapers, and another was a teenager, authorities said.

They were part of a group of at least 11 migrants, all from India, who were trying to cross in sub-zero t

A Florida man who is facing human smuggling charges after four migrants were found dead in the snow and seven others were found near the Canadian border last week was released from jail Monday without having to pay bond, according to reports.

Steve Shand, 57, was stopped by the U.S. Border Patrol in North Dakota on Jan. 19 with two Indian nationals in his 15-passenger van, authorities said.

As Shand and the two migrants were being transported to a Border Patrol station, five other people were found in freezing conditions across the state line in Minnesota.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said that his government was doing all it can and working “very closely” with the U.S. to stop human smuggling, a day after a family of four Indians, including a baby, died from exposure to extreme cold weather on the Canadian side of the border with America.

Terming the incident as a "mind blowing" tragedy, Mr. Trudeau on January 21 said that the Canadian government is doing all it can to stop people-smuggling across the U.S. border.

“It was an absolutely mind-blowing story. It’s so tragic to see a family die like that, victims of human traffickers… and of people who took advantage of their desire to build a better life,” Mr. Trudeau told a news conference.

“This is why we are doing all we can to discourage people from crossing the border in an irregular or illicit manner. We know there are great risks in doing so,” he said.

The Prime Minister said that Canada was working very closely with the United States to stop smuggling and help people “taking unacceptable risks”.

According to Canadian officials, the incident was unusual as illegal migrants generally try to cross into Canada from America, rather than the other way round. Border crossings into Canada on foot increased in 2016 following the election of Donald Trump as the President of the United States.

OTTAWA — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is pushing ahead with a vaccine mandate for international truckers despite increasing pressure from critics who say it will exacerbate driver shortages and drive up the price of goods imported from the United States.

OTTAWA - Federal COVID-19 vaccine contracts mean Canada should get enough doses to give two or three more mRNA shots to every Canadian, every year until at least 2024.

But even as the National Advisory Committee on Immunization is now suggesting some Canadians get in line for the fourth dose of vaccine, the World Health Organization is warning “repeated booster doses of the original vaccine composition” are not a sustainable plan to end the pandemic.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has already been moved to an 'undisclosed location' owing to truckers' protest taking place in capital Ottawa. The truckers with their vehicles jamming central Ottawa are opposing government mandates on compulsory Covid vaccination. Though the temperature remains below -10 degrees Celsius, there is no sign that the mega-jam in the Canadian capital would be cleared soon.

Meanwhile, Trudeau is also being taken shot at by Twitter users in India. The potshots suggest that Trudeau is facing effects of his own 'Karma' in the past.

Trudeau had commented on farmer protests in India, something which was seen by many as interference in India's internal matters. Now when protests are at his own doorstep, the Canadian prime minister has 'fled', say many.
