Sweeping changes are coming to COVID-19 policies at several universities in Virginia. Officers Reportedly Shot At Bridgewater College On A Day Of Fear At U.S. College Campuses
Two police officers were shot Tuesday afternoon at Bridgewater College in western Virginia, according to initial police reports, on an alarming day of violent threats on college campuses—including against 13 HBCUs and at UCLA.
One suspect has been taken into custody after an "active shooter" threat at Bridgewater College, according to a statement from the college, which gave an all clear Tuesday afternoon after the campus was on lockdown for hours.
Earlier in the day, at least 13 historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) received threats, marking the second day in a row threats were made against a series of HBCUs and the third time in less than a month.
In-person classes were called off at UCLA Tuesday after a former lecturer allegedly sent a threatening 800-page manifesto to philosophy professors along with footage that reportedly showed video of mass shootings. The former lecturer has been taken into police custody in Colorado, according to the Daily Bruin student newspaper, citing a campuswide announcement.
