Hypothetical Scenario:

 

You are the good guys trying to stop the bad guys from destroying the world.

 

The win condition that allows the bad guys to activate their world destruction device, is, for whatever reason, measured cumulative worldwide production of Units of Good X.

 

100 units of Good X are needed .

 

Now the Bad guys, for balance reasons, cannot produce Good X themselves. They can, however, try to subtly influence the public to produce more of Good X. What they can also do is roughly estimate how much of Good X is being produced worldwide.

 

Now the bad guys have finally finished their evil doomsday device and get the Info that Worldwide Production of Good X is currently sittin at ten Units per year worldwide.

 

Thus, they carefully construct their plan that allows them to stay hidden and in power for ten years while ensuring the public will not get wise to their intentions. They carefully take control of many public opinion shaping instutions and implement a script of escalatin Events to take place so emotionally captivating that there is no way the populace will even think about what they are doing.

 

Now four years into the plan, the evil doomsday device suddenly updates its number! Apparently, there are now not ten, but twenty units of Good X being produced worldwide! This means, the Device will not need six more years to charge, but only three!

The bad guys are happy that their hour of success is nearer, althouh they will have to instruct all the public opinion shaping institutions to step forward in the script by three years. This will make it riskier for them to keep their plan hidden, but three years is barely not enough time for the information that can take them down to spread to enough people.

 

Now this is where the good guys can come in and win the game by exploiting the bad guys' limitations.

You see, what happened was that the good guys did what would seem like madness at first: They produced ten units of good X in one year.

But you can easily spot how this has now screwed the bad guys, as the good guys can now cease production and leave the bad guys all out in the open, at the wrong place in the script at the wrong time.
