President Putin on NATO in Eastern Europe:
"We have been promised by NATO that it will not advance it's infrastructure one inch further eastwards. Everybody knows that. Today, we see where NATO is: Poland, Romania, the Baltic States. They said one thing and did another thing. As the people say, they played us, simply lied. OK, that's fine. Then the U.S. withdrew from the missile defense treaty. We tried to talk them out of it for a long time. This is one of the foundational treaties for ensuring security in the world. Nevertheless, the U.S. did what they did, they withdrew, and now, the launching pads are in Romania, and son to be in Poland, if not already. We should find the way to ensure security of all participants of this process: Ukraine, European countries, Russia. It is possible to do only through a serious, thoughtful attitude to documents proposed by us."
