>Why can't he just say "Ok no mandates fine bros, lets go back to normal"? Why is it so hard?

Imagine if he did. That would be a MAJOR victory for the patriots on a world stage. His bluff would have been called and he would be made to look extremely weak.

It would vitalize the movement and give people more confidence that their protests can work and make change.

He knows that if he folds here, the dam busts wide open.

Michigan petition seeks 9 days of early voting, funds for absentee ballots

LANSING — A coalition of voting-rights groups is launching a ballot initiative to change the Michigan Constitution to allow early voting and publicly subsidize absentee ballots.

The ballot proposal, Promote the Vote 2022, could cancel a different initiative pushed by Republicans that would tighten election laws and require voter IDs.

Khalilah Spencer, the board president of the Promote the Vote, told reporters Monday morning the goal of the ballot initiative is “to continue building a voting system that works for everyone in Michigan” by allowing nine days of early, in-person voting, along with other measures.

“Creating a true early-voting system means that busy people like people with two jobs or people who have kids at home and taking care of children have more options for how and when to vote,” said Shelli Weisberg, the political director of the ACLU of Michigan.

Promote the Vote 2022 would:

  • Continue to allow people to sign an affidavit attesting to their identity to vote, rather than show official ID. Secure MI Vote would require IDs.

  • Require the Michigan Legislature to fund for postage for absentee ballots as well as a tracking system to allow voters know the location of their absentee ballot and whether there are any issues.

  • Allow local governments to accept funding from public and charitable sources. That would be banned under Secure MI Vote.

  • Require ballot drop boxes for every 15,000 voters in a municipality.

  • Establish that post-election audits can only be conducted by state and county election officials. The amendment would bar officials from any political party from participating in the audit. A separate ballot measure Audit MI would appoint a political board to perform audits.

  • Allow voters to register for absentee voting for all future elections, without having to reapply. Secure MI Vote would require voters to reapply for absentee ballots every election.

This petition still has a long way to go to make it onto the ballot, but it does give a sense of what their plan of attack looks like.

Stay vigilant anons.

Couple other interesting efforts being undertaken to get on the ballot in November, as well:

  • Unlock Michigan II: Would limit to 28 days the length of the emergency orders issued by state or local health officials and empower the Michigan Legislature and local governments to decide whether to extend them.

  • Audit MI: Would force a third-party "forensic audit" of the 2020 election, and change how the state handles post-election audits.

Director Wray Discusses Threats Posed by Government of China

The Chinese government’s disregard for global leadership norms, ruthless hunger for economic superiority, and desire to influence American politics make it a threat to U.S. national security, FBI Director Christopher Wray said on January 31.

China’s strategy is especially dangerous because it pursues economic espionage on multiple fronts—some so subtle that they don’t set off alarms. But once China sets its sights on a technology, Wray explained, it uses every available resource to try to steal it. He pointed to a foiled Chinese plot to use a combination of industrial espionage and hacking to steal trade secrets from GE Aviation to illustrate this approach.

This theft not only gives China an unfair advantage in the global marketplace but also directly harms American companies and workers.

Yet the Chinese government’s thirst for power can’t be quenched by economic dominance alone, Wray noted. China also ultimately seeks to undermine and infiltrate the U.S. government and silence dissent whenever possible.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) aims to win American leaders’ loyalty through money or intimidation and “to undermine our democratic process by influencing our elected officials.” Wray said. The CCP is patient in this pursuit, aiming to recruit early-career politicians—often at the state and local level—who can then be called on to do Beijing’s bidding when their power and influence grow.

Posted this yesterday. Wray seems to be saying the right things (then again, so did Barr), but I still have my reservations about him. I understand the whole "play the game to remain in charge" (a la Adm R), but don't know enough about Dir. Wray yet to make a definitive conclusion.

Thoughts?
