Judicial Watch sues CIA for communications targeting Trump

“Judicial Watch announced that it has filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) for records of communications and meetings between then-CIA Director Gina Haspel and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley (Judicial Watch, Inc. v. Central Intelligence Agency (No. 1:21-cv-03387)).

The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia on December 31, 2021, after the CIA failed to respond to a September 15, 2021, Judicial Watch Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.”

The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia on December 31, 2021, after the CIA failed to respond to a September 15, 2021, Judicial Watch Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for:

  • All records of communication between CIA Director Gina Haspel and Gen. Mark Milley between November 1, 2020, and January 20, 2021.

  • All records regarding all meetings between CIA Director Haspel and Gen. Milley between November 1, 2020, and January 20, 2021. This includes all summaries, notes, and transcripts, as well as all records created in preparation for, during, or pursuant to any such meeting.

Milley and Haspel reportedly had at least one conversation in which President Trump was attacked as being part of a “coup.” “It ought to be disturbing to all Americans that the head of the CIA and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs were reportedly conspiring against the President of the United States,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. "Our new lawsuit will hopefully ferret out the truth about any plots to undermine President Trump by the military and CIA.”

Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm violated a federal conflict-of-interest law by improperly disclosing stock sales

Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm violated a federal conflicts-of-interest and transparency law by improperly reporting up to a quarter-million dollars in stock sales, according to an Insider analysis of financial disclosure documents.

Granholm — one of the Biden administration's highest-ranking officials whose personal finances have come under previous scrutiny — reported making nine stock trades between April 30, 2021, and October 26, 2021. But she disclosed these trades to the Office of Government Ethics on December 15, 2021, and December 16, 2021 — either weeks or months past a 30-day disclosure deadline prescribed by the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge Act of 2012. Granholm's stock sales involved shares of biopharmaceutical firm Gilead Sciences Inc. — a major government contractor and maker of COVID-19 treatment remdesivir — mobility service Uber, and real estate company Redfin.

Administration officials declined to discuss the timing or vetting of Granholm's financial disclosures. A Department of Energy spokesperson did not explain why Granholm's disclosures were late.

Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources ranking member John Barrasso, a Republican of Wyoming, in April 2021 called for an investigation into Granholm's personal investments. A few months later Republicans on the House Oversight and Reform Committee lit into her about a "pattern" of ethical lapses at the agency after another administration official's financial ties got called into question.

Of course she's trading biopharma stocks and making money of remdesivir.

==Feds raid Homeland Security chief's Royal Oak home=

Royal Oak — Federal agents have raided the house of a high-ranking Department of Homeland Security official as part of an unspecified investigation, The Detroit News has learned.

Neighbors and law enforcement officials confirmed the raid happened Friday at the home of Homeland Security Special Agent in Charge Vance Callender, who oversees operations in Michigan and Ohio. The search involved approximately 15 agents and lasted about six hours at a pea-green, Colonial-style home, east of downtown Royal Oak, according to an eyewitness.

News of the search has spread widely within the region's federal law enforcement community, raising questions about the conduct of a high-ranking federal official tasked with helping protect the nation's border with Canada. Callender heads a department that also investigates a wide range of crimes, including sex trafficking and child pornography, and enforces immigration and customs laws.

“First, it is important to emphasize that some rumors online about Special Agent-in-Charge Callender may be sensational; yet they are untrue," his lawyer, Nick Oberheiden, wrote in an email to The Detroit News. "With respect to allegations of an investigation, we refrain from further comments at this point — out of respect for SAC Callender’s credentials and his position.”

It is unclear what prompted the search, and Callender, 49, has not been charged with wrongdoing. He could not be reached for comment and a spokeswoman with Immigration and Customs Enforcement would not discuss Callender's job status.

“As public servants working for a law enforcement agency, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) takes allegations of misconduct very seriously," the spokeswoman said.

"Any allegations of misconduct are appropriately investigated, and any employee, regardless of rank or seniority, who has committed provable misconduct, will be held accountable. Where necessary, ICE works with federal and/or state and local law enforcement who may investigate such allegations. Per agency protocol, the Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) will also review the allegations.”
