Former Myanmar Covid vaccine head arrested: Charged with high treason

Dr. Htar Htar Lin, her husband, her seven-year-old son, and the family dog were arrested by the military last week; their whereabouts are unknown.

She was abducted and detained last week while visiting a doctor friend in Yangon. Later, the junta's forces searched her home and confiscated phones, computers, and other electronic devices.

According to the junta's Global New Light of Myanmar newspaper, Htar Htar Lin is one of 25 doctors accused of high treason, cooperating with a criminal organization, and inciting.

The Global New Light of Myanmar said Htar Htar Lin had been arrested on June 10 and she was also accused of working with an underground National Unity Government (NUG).

The junta has branded the NUG set up by supporters of Suu Kyi and other opponents of military rule as a terrorist group.
