The podcast is titled "NRSC Red Zone" and will focus on conversations with top Republican elected officials, business leaders, and other experts to discuss how the party's opportunity in retaking back Congress and the "issues that will lead" them to victory ahead of November's midterms.

Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL), chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), will interview Trump in the podcast's first episode scheduled to be released this week. The interview is about 20 minutes long, according to the NRSC, and both focus on discussing Trump's first year in office and comparing it to that of President Biden.

Having Trump as its debut guest highlights how influential the former president is as the Senate Republican campaign arm looks to take back the majority. The former president continues to wield massive influence and is considered the undisputed kingmaker of the Republican Party. It is also beneficial to Trump as he looks ahead in making a White House comeback in 2024. Trump has stated numerous times that he will not make an official 2024 announcement until after the 2022 midterms and if the Republicans regain control of both chambers of Congress.

Following the off-year election that saw a red wave last November, Scott has said Republican hopefuls would be "foolish" to dismiss Trump's endorsement. The NRSC honored the former president with its first "Champion for Freedom" award for Trump's accomplishment during his presidency.

Scott noted the podcast name was selected to imply a football connotation since Republicans "are in the red zone. We've got to punch it in. This is just a few months away from the election."

"The 2022 midterms are a critical junction for the future of America, and 'NRSC Red Zone' is taking the Republican pitch straight to voters," Scott said.
