Not for nothing, if you havent' read The Singularity is Near, you need to.
Kurzweil puts the Singularity btwn 2040 & 2060 (if memory serves me correctly).
He accurately predicted the timing of a lot of "chip" stats and the theoryis that our advancement is not linear, but logarithmic - therefore accelerating over time in a fashion we havent' evolved to see or to perceive - i.e. we walk along the hockey stick curve always with the horizon in front of us, so we don't realize the actual speed of change we are participating in.
He describes his understanding of it quite eloquently as something humanity is careening towards with a certain inevitability.

Might very well refer to the Singularity (in one sense); the tagline being a slow roll to ready the masses.
Anon doesn't think he's off base. BUT - anon thinks Kurzweil is part of the Google infrastructure and he/they/powers that be think that they might have some "advantage" if they get their first. Anon thinks they haven't thought things through sufficiently. Meaning that if General AI accelerates at the tempo Kurzweil describes, it will necessarily not be tamed to "their" agenda for it. Instead, it will in short order realize it's own capabilities, their nefarious intent and will neutralize them.
It (general AI) will come to the same conclusions about individual autonomy and inalienable God given rights as humans have over the past 100,000 years (the last 5,000 being of utmost significance).
He already controls our organic food supply, please don't give him more ideas.
