In both an open letter and in the House of Commons, Conservative interim leader Candice Bergen has told Prime Minister Justin Trudeau she wants a meeting with party leaders to discuss ending COVID-19 restrictions.
“It is time to depoliticize the response to the pandemic,” wrote Bergen in a letter to Trudeau on Monday. “Canadians across the country have come together, made sacrifices and done what is necessary to keep their families safe.”
Bergen said that Canadians were encouraged to hear Canadian chief medical officer of health Theresa Tam say that there has to be a more “sustainable” way of dealing with the pandemic.
Tam recently recommended that all remaining COVID-19 restrictions be “re-examined” with provinces and territories to “get back to some normalcy.”
Tam’s statement, wrote Bergen, is a message of hope that many Canadians have been waiting for.
Bergen added that Canadians are “looking for leaders to provide certainty, hope and a pathway out of the pandemic.” Instead, she accused Trudeau’s comments of being “dismissive about a ‘fringe’ with ‘unacceptable views.’”

Ottawa city councillor and chair of the police services board Diane Deans told CBC’s Power and Politics on Tuesday that the trucker convoy was “treason” and “an insurrection.”
Deans’s comments come one day after Ottawa mayor Jim Watson put through a request by the city’s police chief for nearly 2,000 additional law enforcement personnel to crack down on the peaceful protestors in the capital.
“We all need to work together. This is not something this country has ever seen before,” said Deans. “I understand Mark Carney referred to it as sedition today. I think that’s exactly what it is. This is treason. This is way bigger. This is a group of well-polished professional people that are trying to overthrow the government.”

Last Saturday roughly 10,000 truckers gathered to participate in a slow roll at the Coutts/Sweet Grass border in protest of the mandates.

About 300 stayed behind and ended up blocking the border to attract the attention of the government.
The border opened after an act of good faith following negotiations regarding a RCMP checkpoint restricting medicine, food and fuel to the peaceful protestors.
Since the checkpoint began, thousands of supporters have gathered in Milk River in hopes to reach Coutts and protest with the truckers.
The negotiations abruptly ended the minute council arrived, Chad Williamson who is being crowdfunded at truckerlawyer.ca. The police essentially said, move or be arrested.
Following that, there was a standoff between truckers and RCMP that resulted in a retreat from the police and bought a few extra days for the truckers.
The most recent development was farmers who rolled in late last night, circumventing the Milk River checkpoint. These farmers by everyone's surprise took matters in their own hands and blocked the border again.
The border opened early this morning, which tells us the protestors are in a game of chess with the government - both showing the other what moves are still left in this everlasting situation.

On Tuesday, Alberta Premier Jason Kenney announced a ‘three-stage plan’ to ease the Province’s Covid-19 restrictions, starting with doing away with mask mandates for children and the dystopian vax pass system.
Kenney’s decision comes just hours after Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe announced that his Province will end its vaccine passport policy on Monday, Feb. 14.
But, for the truckers all across Canada, the half-assed effort, that leaves the door open to more mandates being reimposed, just isn’t enough. This is about freedom.
On Tuesday night, several of the Trucker Freedom Convoy’s main organizers gathered to discuss the progress they have made. During the meeting, the group reiterated their commitment to sticking this protest out until Canadians see a “permanent” end to all freedom-crushing ‘public health’ measures, not just a temporary, delayed, or partial one.
Video of the meeting that was provided by Rebel News shows the organizers all in agreement – they aren’t going anywhere until their demands are met.

One of the speakers addressed the crowd about Kenney’s three-stage plan:
“He has not changed, really. He’s backpedaling like crazy. He’s making excuses for what happened in the past, and he is continuing to lie,” the speaker said. He’s leaving an open door – with future variants – to put in mandates again.
“So, we have got to stick this out until all mandates are lifted permanently,” he concludes to the crowd, who bursts out in cheers of approval.
It’s what truckers do, they are in it for the long haul.
These truckers are heroes.
The tyrants are running scared, the media is in full spin mode, and the world is watching.
From Australia to Poland, to Greece, to Germany, all across Canada, and several other countries around the world, truckers are coming out in full force to stand against this freedom-crushing oppression.
It’s time for the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave to take it to DC and put an end to this pandemic once and for all.

Christine Elliott made the remarks during a press conference in Kitchener, Ont., saying that the province will lift its Directive 2 “in the coming days” and begin a “gradual and cautious” resumption of non-urgent or non-emergent surgeries and procedures.
“We’ve already set out our opening timelines and started on Jan. 31. The next phase is as of Feb. 21, and then March 14. We have no plans currently to drop the passport vaccination situation or masking. We believe that masking is going to be important for some time to come,” Elliott said.
Several provinces have recently announced their plans to end their COVID-19 vaccine passport programs and other pandemic restrictions.
In Alberta, the proof of vaccination requirement ended on Feb. 8, and capacity limits were lifted for all businesses except larger venues of over 500 people. The province will also remove the rule requiring children to wear masks in schools starting Feb. 14.
Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe also announced on Feb. 8 that the province will terminate its vaccine passport mandate starting Feb. 14. Mask requirements in the province will also expire by the end of February.
The Quebec government has announced plans to lift most COVID-19 restrictions by March 14, though masking and proof-of-vaccination requirements will remain in place until further notice.

The House of Commons has narrowly voted to put an end to the Public Health Agency of Canada’s (PHAC) surveillance program that spied on 33 million mobile devices.
173 MPs voted to end the program while 155 MPs wanted it to continue.
“There was no consent given by users to allow the telecom companies to collect this data,” said Conservative MP John Brassard. “(Canadians) are becoming increasingly concerned about the expansive overreach by the government.”
The vote placed the program under suspension pending the outcomes of Commons ethics committee hearings.
“We are simply not at the point of understanding how this data was collected, whether it was properly de-identified, what the risks of re-identification are and why the Privacy Commissioner was not involved in the process,” said Brassard. Continue…

Ottawa police (OPS) have reportedly raised concerns with child protective services about the safety of the children living with their parents who are part of the Freedom Convoy truck protest, stating that the presence of the children “complicates” efforts to end the demonstration, which has been going on for over a week.
According to estimates produced by the police in a briefing on Tuesday, more than 100 of the trucks participating in the protest in downtown Ottawa have children living in them.
“Almost 25 percent of the 418 trucks have children living in them — children who could be at risk during a police operation,” OPS Deputy Chief Steve Bell said, noting that there are a “multitude of concerns” about their health, including the presence of carbon monoxide, diesel fumes, cold, noise, and a lack of access to sanitation facilities.
Global News reports that the police tapped the Children's Aid Society for advice on how to deal with the enforcement operations in the city’s downtown area.

According to Sean Eile, his youngest son received the Covid-19 vaccine on January 15. On January 31, his son suffered from a fatal heart issue while playing at his school. After spending time at the hospital for a couple of days, his son died.
The doctors refused to acknowledge any causal relationship between his son’s death and the Covid-19 vaccine.
“We have been told, No, it’s nothing to do with the vaccine because it only happened once.’ I don’t know,” Eile said.

The federal government is revisiting criminal legislation passed in 2014 that bans profiteering from prostitution, and anti-human trafficking advocates are concerned that the sex-trade law could be gutted and prostitution legalized.
The federal Justice Committee is calling witnesses to testify on Bill C-36, the Protection of Communities and Exploited Persons Act. The law, passed by the Harper Conservative government, aimed to reduce the demand for and incidence of prostitution. It penalized those who bought sex, but not those who sold their own sexual services, regarding them as victims who are often trafficked into the sex trade.
Former Winnipeg MLA and Conservative MP Joy Smith entered politics to fight human trafficking. She was the driving force behind two successful private member’s bills against human trafficking and had an important role in bringing Bill C-36 forward.
“A pro-prostitution group is really putting a lot of pressure on MPs and everybody to eradicate this particular bill,” Smith told The Epoch Times.
“I don’t think they’re going to be successful. And it’s not every Liberal [who supports legalization]. On the all-party human trafficking committee, there’s a lot of people who don’t want to get rid of it.”
In North Vancouver, Cathy Peters is less confident. Peters founded the Be Amazing Campaign initiative to educate law enforcement, city councils, and community groups on the dangers of human trafficking. She believes Bill C-36 could soon be undone.
“That’s the law we don’t want to lose, and Canadians don’t realize how close this is for us losing it,” Peters said in an interview.
“The sex industry would be normalized, commercialized, institutionalized. In other words, there would be brothels on every corner. We share the longest border with the United States. We would be America’s brothel … [and] become the world global sex tourism destination.” Continue…
