Worldwide Movement: Massive Freedom Convoy Formed in Helsinki, Finland Against COVID-19 Mandates and High Fuel Taxes – Cops Detain 55 Protesters

A massive freedom convoy was organized on Friday outside parliament in Helsinki, Finland demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Sanna Marin’s government, cutting 50% of fuel prices, and an end to all COVID restrictions.

Finland was enthusiastic about the Canadian convoy and the Finns set up a Facebook group that has gathered more than 45,000 members in just two days. The group name was called “CONVOY FINLAND 2022.”

“CONVOY FINLAND 2022″ is expected to resume daily through Wednesday, February 9, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day.

The demands to release the blockade of Helsinki are as follows:

All corona measures and restrictions in Finland shall be abolished and abolished permanently and permanently.

Fuels (both petrol and diesel) must be cut by 50% of the current tax.

The current Finnish government must resign.

Russia sounds alarm over military drones in Ukraine

According to a top senator, Ankara wants to become a ‘player’ in the big game of tensions unfolding in Europe

An agreement inked between Ankara and Kiev, which could soon see Turkish military drones being mass produced in Ukraine, has come under fire from one of Russia’s most senior politicians, who has argued that the plan risks greater confrontation when tensions are so high.

Speaking to RIA Novosti on Thursday, Andrey Klimov, who serves as the head of Russia’s Senate committee for protection of national sovereignty, poured scorn on the move, insisting that “the saturation of Ukraine with weapons is a provocation in itself and an element of incitement.”

“Ankara cannot fail to understand this, but does it anyway, which is regrettable,” he added, claiming that there was a risk in the southeast of Ukraine that hostilities could break out “spontaneously or with the involvement of provocateurs,” with weaponry from foreign partners being used in any potential fighting.

“Unfortunately, there is a risk that ‘hawks’ in Kiev may give the command to exploit this situation,” Klimov warned.

According to the politician, Turkish authorities are trying to benefit financially by promoting its weaponry, but are also seeking to become a “participant in this big game” of tensions in Eastern Europe.

His words come shortly after Kiev’s Defense Minister Aleksey Reznikov disclosed that “there are plans to sign a framework agreement on cooperation in the sphere of military technologies” between the two states. One of the articles in the deal “will be the construction of the Bayraktar plant,” which he said will be manufactured in the former Soviet Republic.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky hailed the deal struck in Kiev with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, noting that “these are new technologies, new jobs, and the strengthening of the state's defense capabilities.”

Ankara enjoys good relations with both Kiev and Moscow. However, the Turkish leader has openly condemned the 2014 Russian reabsorption of Crimea, claiming it to be an “annexation” of the region.

The peninsula became governed by Russia following a referendum after violent street protests ousted the elected government. The self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics in eastern Ukraine then declared their independence from Kiev.

Ukraine’s purported use of Turkish-made drones in the Donbass has also been a sore point for Moscow. During a phone call between Erdogan and President Vladimir Putin in December, the Russian leader blasted the “destructive” behavior and “provocative activity” of their use in the region.

Just months prior, Kiev’s army announced it had successfully fired a missile from a Turkish Bayraktar drone in the Donbass, which it claims was for the first time ever. Ukraine first purchased Bayraktar TB2s in 2019 and has reportedly gone on to purchase more.

SHOCKER: ADL Excuses Amnesty International in Their Campaign Against the Existence of the State of Israel

The ADL says it is leading anti-hate organization that was founded in 1913 in response to an escalating climate of antisemitism and bigotry. Today, ADL is the first call when acts of antisemitism occur and continues to fight all forms of hate.

Many people today see the ADL as just another far-left group that lost its way.

This week in Israel, the Anti-Defamation League excused Amnesty International campaigning against the existence of the state of Israel.

One of the more curious responses to Amnesty International’s Israel Apartheid report this week came from the Anti-Defamation League. Monday, the heads of Amnesty held a press conference in Israel’s capital Jerusalem. In it they presented the main “findings” of the “investigation” they conducted regarding the status of Israel’s existence.

The purchase of private land by Jews in sovereign Israel and in Judea and Samaria is apartheid. The use of government land by Jews is apartheid. Enforcement of the laws of the state towards non-Jews – you guessed it – is apartheid in the eyes of Amnesty’s hard-nosed, totally unbiased “investigators.”

As was to be expected, Amnesty used its new “Jews are Criminals” report to renew its call for Israel and its citizens to be tried for war crimes before the International Criminal Court in The Hague. The “human rights” group also rode its blood libel wave to renew its call for economic sanctions and an arms embargo against Israel. Amnesty capped its bloodlust off with a call for Israel’s destruction through the immigration of millions of hostile foreign-born Arabs allegedly descended from Arabs who left Israel during the 1948 pan-Arab invasion of the nascent Jewish state.

Experts around the world condemned Amnesty International’s presentation as anti-semitic. Actions like this are why President Trump’s Secretary of State Mike Pompeo wanted to classify Amnesty International as antisemitic. But the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) stepped in to prevent this classification by the Trump team.

Amnesty International’s actions this week put the ADL in a pickle.

The ADL had a great deal of criticism over Amnesty’s report, but it engaged in circus-style contortionism to avoid saying the plain truth: Amnesty’s report was antisemitic.

As the ADL put it, Amnesty’s report was “an effort to demonize Israel and undermine its legitimacy as a Jewish and democratic state. In an environment of rising anti-Jewish hate, this type of report is not only inaccurate but also irresponsible and likely will lead to intensified antisemitism around the world.”

So the report wasn’t antisemitic per se. It was simply irresponsible. Amnesty didn’t factor in how its blood libels might be interpreted by people who (unlike Amnesty) actually hate Jews.

With the Biden/Obama gang in the White House, the ADL no longer has a friend of Israel in the Oval Office. It better get back to its roots.

Joe Rogan apologizes as podcasts disappear from Spotify

The host has offered his “sincerest deepest apologies” over past use of the N-word in “context”

More than 70 episodes of ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ podcast have vanished from Spotify, as first reported by JRE Missing, a service that monitors the popular podcast.

The episodes disappeared this week and feature a variety of guests, from commentator Michael Malice to comedian Tom Segura.

News of the pulled episodes comes as Rogan has addressed controversy around his show for the second time in an Instagram video, offering an apology for some past language and jokes highlighted recently by critics calling for the comedian’s widely popular show to be censored or pulled by Spotify.

Rogan addressed multiple instances of him using the N-word, as well as another podcast clip that has long been criticized where he appears to compare a black neighborhood he arrived in to the film ‘Planet of the Apes’.

On using the N-word, Rogan revealed he once would use the word “in context,” as in discussing a story or person that involved the word, like comedian Redd Foxx breaking cultural boundaries by using the word on television. Rogan says he knows today that he was wrong in his thinking that ‘context’ mattered.

Addressing the ‘Planet of the Apes’ clip, Rogan explained that he acknowledges making a bad joke on the show in question and then recounts what a positive experience he had.

The Epstein Files: US Bureau of Prisons bent facts to support suicide narrative

The declassified papers on notorious pedophile case shed light on more suspicious details

Documents obtained under Freedom of Information laws by RT investigative unit The Detail include startling records revealing how the US Bureau of Prisons (BOP) moved to shut down any and all public debate about the cause of Jeffrey Epstein’s death. Along the way, evidence was distorted, material facts ignored, and key anomalies unexplored and unpublicized.

After being found dead in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center on August 10, 2019, the records show that the Bureau issued statements to journalists and Epstein’s family categorically stating he’d committed suicide. The result was international news outlets universally and unquestioningly reporting that Epstein had taken his own life from the word go, despite Chief Medical Examiner Barbara Sampson having reached no conclusion at that time, and making clear in a statement the next day that the investigation was open and ongoing.

It was not until August 16 that Sampson publicly declared Epstein’s death had been a suicide. The ruling was contested by leading forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Baden, who’d been hired by the billionaire’s brother to monitor the autopsy process. Speaking to the Miami Herald two months later, he charged that “the autopsy did not support suicide,’’ and that the pathologist who conducted it had recorded this.

“Then Dr. Sampson changed it a week later, manner of death to suicide. The brother has been trying to find out why that changed,” Baden fulminated. “What was the evidence?”

No clarity on these questions has been forthcoming in the years since, although one rationale for the apparent volte-face may have been a shock Washington Post report a day prior to Sampson’s announcement. Sources familiar with the autopsy told the paper that the process had revealed several bones in Epstein’s neck, including the hyoid, were broken, and such breakages “are more common in victims of homicide by strangulation” than hanging.

Another explanation may be the then-ongoing “psychological reconstruction” of Epstein’s death compiled by Robert Nagle, BOP national suicide prevention coordinator. Files released to The Detail by the Bureau record how Nagle – whose name is redacted in the files – arrived at the Metropolitan Correctional Center on the morning of August 13 to commence his investigation.

Europe Could Soon Enter COVID-19 ‘Ceasefire,’ Long Period of Tranquility: WHO Europe Director

The World Health Organization’s (WHO) Europe director said on Thursday that the continent could soon enter a “cease-fire” and a “long period of tranquillity” in the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus pandemic.

Dr. Hans Kluge cited increased immunity to Omicron either through vaccines or natural immunity, a “favorable seasonality pause” as Europe nears the end of winter, and the less severe nature of the Omicron variant as reasons for the more tranquil period.

Speaking to reporters from Geneva, he said: “This period of higher protection should be seen as a ‘ceasefire’ that could bring us enduring peace.”

“This context, that we have not experienced so far in this pandemic, leaves us with the possibility for a long period of tranquility and a much higher level of population defense against any resurgence in transmission, even with a more virulent variant.”

Despite the more optimistic view, Kluge warned European nations to continue with their vaccination and boosting campaigns to preserve immunity and to maintain surveillance of strains to detect new variants of the CCP virus, which causes COVID-19.

He also urged European governments to continue promoting “self-protecting behavior and individual responsibility” such as social distancing and hand sanitizing to limit unnecessary socio-economic impacts of the virus.

If new variants of COVID were to emerge, Kluge said he believes that it is possible for European governments to respond in a manner that does not require the kind of “disruptive measures” that were needed before.

However, Kluge also warned that this was “not to say that (the pandemic) is now all over,” but “there is a singular opportunity to take control of the transmission.”

The WHO Europe director’s comments come as the continent recorded 12 million new COVID-19 cases in the past week, the highest weekly number of cases since the start of the pandemic.

Those figures are being largely driven by the highly transmissible Omicron variant, which is sweeping from west to east, Kluge said, adding that 30 percent of all COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began have been reported this year alone.

The EU health agency, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) says that the overall level of risk to public health in Europe is “very high.”

ESPN guest suggests America lacks the moral high ground to condemn China for human rights abuses: 'We've got assaults on the voting rights of … our people of color'

China's egregious human rights abuses have been widely discussed recently in light of the 2022 Winter Olympics, but during an appearance on ESPN, J.A. Adande indicated that the U.S. is not well positioned to decry China's record.

Adande, who is the director of sports journalism at Northwestern University's Medill School, asked, "who are we to criticize China's human rights records when we have ongoing, attacks by the agents of the state against unarmed citizens and we've got assaults on the voting rights of, of our people of color in various states in this country?"

He said that it is difficult to locate any nations that are not "problematic when it comes to human rights — including here."

"I think we can bring attention to it. I think it's, it's notable that we did have a Uyghur participant lighting the torch," he said.

Seven die and dozens poisoned after being ordered to ‘swallow battery fluid’ by doctors

Seven people died and at least two dozen were poisoned after doctors told them to “swallow battery fluid” before having X-rays.

The victims suffered agonising deaths and chronic injuries after the deadly blunder at St Petersburg’s Municipal Diagnostic Center No. 1 clinic in Russia.

A senior Russian doctor has since been detained as part of a criminal probe into the mix-up, accused of using industrial fluids not for human consumption.

Dr. Yevgeny Popov is being held on suspicion of causing death by negligence and providing services that did not meet the required standards.

Patients reportedly drank the “battery fluid” in preparation for undergoing x-rays of the oesophagus, stomach and intestine at the clinic.

But they soon began to experience hellish symptoms that were allegedly disregarded by medics.

At least four of the patients passed away less than 12 hours after downing the deadly cocktail.

Expert pathologist Zhanna Shmidt told local newspaper Moskovsky Komsomolets: “In this clinic, they simply took an uncertified powder and dissolved it in water.

“What they received was actually battery fluid. This is not a metaphor – it’s how it was. Car batteries also contain barium salts.

“As I understand it, this technical powder was sold for some kind of laboratory research, and not for oral use.

“In reality, it turns out that people drank battery fluid, naturally causing damage to the intestine, severe burns, poisoning.”

Swallowing toxic substances such as battery fluid can wreak havoc on the oesophagus and stomach, as well as causing serious infection and organ failure.

A 60-year-old woman was the first victim to be rushed to hospital, before she tragically passed away 12 hours later.

Father-of-four Alexey Tsaryov, 42, was then admitted after his condition dramatically deteriorated after returning home from his routine x-ray.

His heartbroken wife Alexandra, 38, said he had complained to doctors while drinking the liquid that “he felt dizzy and his eyes went dark.”

She explained: “He told the doctors about it, but they replied that it was normal, that this could happen. He finished it all, carried out the procedure.

Marines Describe ‘Sham’ Religious Vaccine Exemption Process

Marine Corps officers seeking religious exemptions from the COVID-19 vaccine told the Daily Caller News Foundation that the process for vetting their accommodation requests is a “sham.”

The military says the vaccine mandate is in place to keep the force “healthy and ready.”

Republican California Congressman Darrell Issa has been advocating on the service members’ behalf, arguing that if the military wants to preserve readiness, it should pause the mandate.

The COVID-19 vaccine exemption process in the Marine Corps gives no consideration to the faiths of individual soldiers and could hamper military readiness, according to Marines fighting the Pentagon’s vaccine mandate on religious grounds who spoke to the Daily Caller News Foundation anonymously out of fear of retribution.

As of Friday, 95% of active duty members of the Marine Corps were fully vaccinated, and another 2% were partially vaccinated, Department of Defense (DOD) spokesperson Maj. Charlie Dietz told the DCNF. A total of 334 Marines have been separated with a vaccine refusal discharge code. The Marine Corps has received 3,538 religious exemption requests, and only three were approved, out of 3,414 requests that were processed.

The Secretary of Defense issued a memorandum on Aug. 24, requiring that all service members be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a matter of readiness.

“To defend this Nation, we need a healthy and ready force. After careful consultation with medical experts and military leadership, and with the support of the President, I have determined that mandatory vaccination against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is necessary to protect the Force and defend the American people,” the memo stated. The Marine Corps issued its mandate on Sept. 1.

All current requests for religious exemptions, according to Dietz, are being reviewed on a “case-by-case basis” and are “given full consideration with respect to the facts and circumstances submitted in the request.”

A 23-year Marine Corps officer went so far as to call the religious exemption process a “sham.”

Like many others, the officer’s religious exemption request was denied, as was her earlier medical exemption request. The officer, who is now appealing the Marine Corp’s denial, told the DCNF she believes the Pentagon “intends to dismiss all of us.”

NATO Chief Stoltenberg Tapped as Norway’s Next Central Bank Governor

NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg will take over as Norway’s central bank governor at the end of the year, , a controversial choice that has already raised concerns about the bank’s independence.

The appointment comes amid escalating tensions between the West and Russia. Western nations fear Moscow has plans to invade Ukraine, which aspires to join the NATO alliance.

But Stoltenberg, a 62-year-old trained economist, insisted Friday he would stay on as NATO secretary general until the end of his term in October.

“Until my mandate at NATO ends on October 1, I will devote all my strength and attention to leading the Alliance”, he told a press conference in Norway via video link.

“It’s absolutely necessary at a time when Europe and North America must stand together”, he added.

The central bank and finance ministry said he would take over “around December 1”.

Norway’s central bank determines monetary policy but also manages the country’s enormous sovereign wealth fund, the biggest in the world.

Worth 11.76 trillion kroner (more than 1.17 trillion euros, $1.33 trillion), the fund controls around 1.4 percent of the world’s market capital.

A former prime minister and finance minister in his native Norway, Stoltenberg applied for the job after the finance ministry contacted him, and he thanked the government for the vote of confidence.

“I was intent on finding the best central bank governor for Norway, and I’m convinced it’s Jens Stoltenberg”, Finance Minister Trygve Slagsvold Vedum said in a statement.

“The combination of financial training, an understanding of society, and management experience that few Norwegians have, make him very qualified as head of the central bank”, he said.

Stoltenberg beat out the central bank’s deputy governor Ida Wolden Bache for the job. She was hoping to become the bank’s first woman governor since its creation in 1816.

She will now serve as interim governor until Stoltenberg takes over, as the current head Oystein Olsen is to retire this month at the age of 70.

The selection process has made headlines in Norway, where commentators and politicians have raised concerns about potential political nepotism due to Stoltenberg’s longstanding ties to the ruling Labour Party.

Stoltenberg headed the Labour Party from 2002 until 2014, when he took over as NATO chief, and he is still a party member.

The current Labour party leader and prime minister is none other than Stoltenberg’s protege Jonas Gahr Store, who recused himself from the appointment process in order to avoid any conflict of interest.

Most political parties in parliament, including those close to the government, had expressed their opposition to Stoltenberg’s appointment in advance, arguing that it could harm the bank’s independence, or at the very least, its image.

“It’s not the smartest appointment, as demonstrated by the turmoil surrounding his candidacy and the questions about the central bank’s independence”, Kari Elisabeth Kaski, a spokeswoman on economic affairs for the Socialist Left Party which occasionally cooperates with the government, told news agency NTB.

Several officials have also said they plan to grill the government over media reports of shadowy backdoor meetings.

The goal, as a lawyer for the subsidiary said in a court filing, was to halt all the litigation and transfer the cases to bankruptcy court, where plaintiffs would compete for compensation from a limited pool of money.

Tens of thousands of plaintiffs, many with mesothelioma or ovarian cancer, have filed lawsuits alleging that exposure to talc in J&J's Baby Powder and other company products made them sick.

One plaintiff is Thomas McHattie, 78 years old, who traveled the world as an obstetrician-gynecologist before receiving a mesothelioma diagnosis in March 2020. McHattie said he recommended Baby Powder to 'countless pregnant women' while also using it himself. McHattie said he endured five courses of chemotherapy to treat tumors in his abdomen, and has suffered from pronounced fatigue and shortness of breath.

He sued J&J in New York in July, a few months after receiving his diagnosis. His case had not yet gone to trial when J&J subsidiary LTL Management filed for bankruptcy.

In a 2020 court filing, J&J said it denied 'each and every allegation, statement, matter and thing' asserted by McHattie in his lawsuit.

McHattie told Reuters in an interview that he was 'disappointed they've chosen to do what is expedient and not what is right.'

'There is no excuse for them filing a bankruptcy,' McHattie said. 'Why? This is a solvent company.'

Johnson & Johnson, valued at more than $450 billion, had about $31 billion in cash and marketable securities on hand at the end of the third quarter, securities filings show.

20 arrested for using drones to deliver drugs into SC prison

An eight-month investigation at a South Carolina prison has resulted in the confiscation of more than 100 pounds of contraband and 20 arrests, the state's department of corrections announced Thursday. The Lee County Sheriff's Office opened a probe into "frequent nighttime drone assaults" at the Lee Correctional Institution in Bishopville in May 2021.

Since then, officials have seized an estimated 100 pounds of tobacco, 13 pounds of marijuana, 843 grams of methamphetamines, 114 grams of crack cocaine, 49 grams of cocaine, 12 drones, three guns, two knives, 25 cellphones and $6,393 in cash. Authorities also discovered abandoned drones in the woods near the prison's fences that contained about 100 grams of meth and five pounds of tobacco.

In the latest sting over the weekend, authorities arrested Morrell Godbolt, Anthony Bullard, Buddy Berry Jr., Hezekiah Brown and Divine Scott. They were believed to be a part of separate and unrelated groups trying to fly drones over the prison's fences at the same time, officials said. Each suspect was charged with contraband and criminal conspiracy, with Scott facing an addition charge of failure to stop for a blue light.

Their arrests brought the total number of people charged in the investigation to 20. The other 15 suspects are facing a slew of charges including drug trafficking and possession, contraband, criminal conspiracy and trespassing.

Lee County Sheriff Daniel Simon said one of the drones found this past weekend was the largest he's ever seen. "These large drones can carry heavier and heavier packages. We are working hard to stop them from getting in the wrong hands," he said.

In 2018, a fight at the same South Carolina prison left seven dead and 17 other inmates injured. It was considered at the time to be the worst U.S. prison riot in 25 years.

Colombo crime family boss is freed on $5 million bond despite prosecutors' objections after he turned himself to police when his son posted of him lounging in a Florida pool while he was on the run

One of the heads of the Colombo crime family was freed from a Brooklyn jail on a $5 million bond on Friday despite federal prosecutors' objections that he was still conducting mafia business.

Mob consigliere Ralph DiMatteo, 66, walked out prison just five months after turning himself in to the FBI in New York City after his son had posted a photo of the wanted fugitive at a sunny Florida pool.

DiMatteo was charged with 13 other mobsters on racketeering and extortion charges and has pleaded not guilty.

Despite prosecutors' claims that DiMatteo was still an active member of the Colombo crime family and offering the group advice, Brooklyn Federal Court Magistrate James Cho said the mobster was not a flight risk and that home detention and phone monitoring was enough to 'alleviate the risk,' the New York Daily News reported.

DiMatteo's defense lawyer, Gerald McMahon, argued his client's release was necessary to prepare for their case, and as part of the deal, the mobster has agreed to electronic monitoring and home detention.

The mobster is allowed to travel outside his home only when visiting his attorney, going to court, seeking medical treatment and attending religious services.

According to court documents, prosecutors said that DiMatteo was still orchestrating Colombo family business while imprisoned as officials monitored his phone calls.

During one of the calls, he allegedly advised a relative to 'stay off the phones' because FBI surveillance and told a Colombo associate during another call that they avoid using a crime family meeting spot because authorities were aware of the location

In the court documents, the prosecutors wrote, 'In the months since his arrest, DiMatteo has continued to associate with and communicate with members of organized crime, seek their financial assistance, and remain involved in the affairs of the Colombo family.

'The weight of the evidence against DiMatteo is overwhelming. The government's evidence includes witness testimony, wiretap intercepts, consensual recordings… text messages, surveillance photographs.'

DiMatteo stands accused of colluding with fellow mobsters to devise a scheme to launder money from union healthcare contracts and payments.

DiMatteo is said to have done this through various channels linked to Joseph Bellantoni, who was named as a co-conspirator in the indictment, and eventually to the Colombo crime family's leaders, according to the federal indictment.

He was also accused of threatening bodily harm to control the management of the labor union that they were targeting and influencing decisions that benefitted the family.

Reputed Colombo street boss Andrew 'Andy Mush' Russo, 87, and his underboss, Benjamin 'The Claw' Castellazzo, 83, were also scooped up by federal agents and New York police, along with seven other members of the Colombo crime family.

Among those charged was 75-year-old capo (captain) Vincent 'Vinny Unions' Ricciardo, who was recorded during a phone call in June threatening to kill a labor union official if he didn't play ball, according to the 19-count indictment.

The other captains, or capos, arrested include Richard Ferrara, 59, and Theodore 'Skinny Teddy' Persico Jr., 58, who is the nephew of the late Colombo boss Carmine 'The Snake' Persico.

Colombo soldier Michael Uvino, 56, and associates Thomas Costa, 52, and Domenick Ricciardo, 56 - Vincent's cousin - were also booked.

Black doctor sues Chase bank for racial discrimination after she was told her $16,000 paycheck was fraudulent when she tried to open an account

A black doctor filed a lawsuit against JPMorgan Chase Bank after she said employees at a branch in Houston discriminated against her and denied her service because of her race.

Dr. Malika Mitchell-Stewart, who had just started working with the Valley Oaks Medical Group in Houston, said she tried depositing her first paycheck for $16,000 last December at the bank. But she was met with skepticism as employees questioned the validity of her check and her job.

According to the lawsuit filed Wednesday against the bank and two employees, the bank employees 'immediately treated her like a criminal' when Mitchell-Stewart walked into the First Colony Branch in Sugar Land, Texas.

'It was an unfortunate situation. They took my special moment away,' Mitchell-Stewart told ABC 13. 'I felt like a criminal. I've never done anything wrong.'

Mitchell-Stewart said her elation at becoming a medical professional was crushed by the actions of the banking employees, who she said hounded her with questions about her age, job and even asked for contact information for people who would vouch for her identity.

'They didn't respect anything. I shouldn't have even been asked so many questions about my age, what I did for a living, just to open an account at Chase,' Mitchell-Stewart said.

'In order to get Texas medical license or a medical license at all, you have to have a clean record. You have to go to school for so many years, and they just didn't care.'

Her attorney, Justin Moore added: 'Dr. Mitchell-Stewart showed proof of identification. She showed proof that she was a doctor by presenting a business card. She even called employees from her medical group to confirm who she was.'

The US Corporate Press Aids Israel’s Push To Curtail Free Speech

Israel is greatly concerned about the Palestinian Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) effort that seeks: 1) to end international support for Israel’s oppression of Palestinians; and 2) to pressure Israel to comply with international law. Israel claims that this campaign is a threat to its legitimacy. Unsurprisingly, Israel doesn’t want to acknowledge that it is its own repeated flouting of international law, including its numerous war crimes, that threaten its legitimacy.

Given Israel’s misperception, it is waging a campaign to limit any discussion about its illegal and immoral actions. Unfortunately, even without any Israeli campaign, the US corporate media already aids Israel through its lack of coverage or its downplaying the effects of Israeli violations.

For example, there is limited coverage of the desperate conditions in Gaza under a seldom mentioned illegal Israeli siege (abetted by Egypt and the US) since 2007. The major Israeli attacks on Gaza in 2008, 2012 and 2014 also greatly damaged hospitals, the sanitation system and other infrastructure, schools and apartment buildings. This siege has made it nearly impossible to bring in materials and supplies to repair the devastation. These Israeli war crimes and the siege have combined to make life a living hell for the approximately 2 million people surviving in the Gaza Strip.

In addition, the frequent criminal behavior of the illegal Israeli occupiers of Palestinian land in the West Bank is rarely reported. The Israeli military/police seldom arrests these illegal occupiers, sometimes allows the criminal behavior to continue and sometimes is complicit in the crimes. Moreover, Israel has destroyed and continues to destroy Palestinian homes in the West Bank including East Jerusalem. Israel uses very questionable excuses as a pretext to illegally remove more and more Palestinians from their homes. There is also little media coverage of the disgraceful arrest and imprisonment of Palestinian children. The corporate controlled media also downplayed the finding that Israel is an apartheid state by the respected Israeli human rights organization B’Tselem as well as by Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch.

State Department Approves Arms Sales for Saudi, UAE, Jordan

Under the potential deals, Jordan will get F-16s, Saudi and UAE will upgrade missile defense systems

The State Department on Thursday approved a series of potential arms deals for Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Jordan.

Both Saudi Arabia and the UAE will receive upgrades to their missile defense systems as the Houthis in Yemen have been stepping up attacks in response to the brutal war the two Gulf countries have been waging on Yemen.

According to the Pentagon’s Defense Security Cooperation Agency, the Saudi deal is worth about $23.7 million and includes 31 communication and navigation terminals and related equipment to upgrade missile defense.

The UAE has been approved to buy $65 million in spare parts for its missile defense, which includes Hawk, Patriot, and THAAD systems.

For Jordan, the State Department approved a massive $4.21 billion deal for the purchase of 16 F-16 fighter jets and related equipment, including hundreds of various Joint Direct Attack Munition tail kits to upgrade munitions.

Jordan joined the initial intervention in Yemen in 2015 and is technically a member of the Saudi-led coalition but is not nearly as involved in the war as Riyadh and Abu Dhabi.

Friday marked the one-year anniversary of President Biden declaring that he was ending “offensive support” for the Saudi-led war in Yemen. But that support has continued in the form of maintenance to Saudi warplanes that are bombing Yemen and arms sales.

In the wake of recent Houthi attacks on the UAE, the US has escalated its role in the war by intervening to intercept Houthi missiles. The US is also sending a warship and some fighter jets to the UAE. The Biden administration frames this support as “defensive” in nature. But the Houthis wouldn’t be launching attacks if Saudi Arabia and the UAE hadn’t been waging war in Yemen since 2015, which has only been possible because of US support.

A Democratic Senate candidate quietly unloaded at least $100,000 in stocks in two controversial Chinese tech giants around the same time he pivoted to a tough-on-Beijing stance on the campaign trail—but is declining to say whether he sold his stakes in other companies linked to Chinese forced labor.

Wisconsin Senate candidate Alex Lasry held between $100,000 and $200,000 in corporate securities stock in tech companies Tencent and Alibaba, according to his most recent financial disclosure report in August. The U.S. government has accused both companies of aiding the Chinese military. Lasry also disclosed investments in Inditex and Seagate Technology, which have been accused of profiting off forced labor in Xinjiang, and Chindata, a company that has been active in China’s Belt and Road Initiative—a global infrastructure program that U.S. officials have decried as a national security risk.

The stock sales took place as Lasry has worked to shake off allegations from Republicans that he and his family have profited from business with China. They also coincided with his campaign's rebranding effort. In January, Lasry launched a $1 million campaign advertising blitz in which he promised to "stand up to China" and focus on supporting American businesses. But his investments in additional companies tied to human rights abuses could undercut his rebranding efforts.

A spokesman for Lasry told the Washington Free Beacon that the candidate sold off the Alibaba and Tencent stocks "months ago." The spokesman did not respond when asked if Lasry has also divested from Inditex, Seagate, and Chindata.

French prosecutors have been investigating Inditex, a Spanish fast fashion brand that owns Zara, over allegations that it knowingly profited from Uyghur forced labor in the cotton industry. Seagate Technology also came under fire after the Wall Street Journal reported that it sold hard drives to Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Co. Ltd. The United States blacklisted Hikvision for selling surveillance products that the Chinese government reportedly uses against dissidents and Uyghurs.

Lasry also disclosed an investment in Chindata, a Chinese data center company. Chindata has touted its support and assistance for China’s Belt and Road Initiative, a massive international infrastructure project and the centerpiece of China’s economic and military expansionism.

Lasry has struggled against perceptions that he is soft on China since launching his campaign last year. His father, billionaire hedge-funder Marc Lasry, has been an advocate for investment opportunities in China, telling a business forum in May that "now is a great time to be investing in China" and praising the country’s economic growth as "through the roof."

Lasry’s critics have highlighted his position as a senior vice president at the Milwaukee Bucks—the basketball team owned by his father—noting that the NBA has extensive financial interests in China.

During a lengthy interview with Jewish Insider, Lasry "was somewhat reticent while discussing the NBA’s highly profitable business relationship with China" and "seemed eager to sidestep the matter," the outlet reported.

The Wisconsin Senate race is expected to be one of the most competitive of the 2022 cycle, with Democrats hoping to unseat GOP incumbent Ron Johnson.

Lasry, who has already pumped $2.3 million into his own campaign, is seen as one of several frontrunners for the Democratic nomination. The crowded primary field also includes sitting Wisconsin lieutenant governor Mandela Barnes and state treasurer Sarah Godlewski.
