When the Canadians first formed their own country, they did not know what to call it. So they decided to throw balls with letters on them and put them into a BINGO machine.
"How many letters should our country have in its name, eh?"
The first Canadian said.
"Oh, geez, I don't know, eh? How about we give it t(h)ree just like the U.S.A.?"
"Olright, let's do this den"
First Ball was drawn: "C, eh?"
Everyone agreed the first letter was going to be a "C".
Now, the second ball was drawn from the BINGO ball machine.
"N, eh?" the ball handler called out.
The second letter was now an "N".
They spun the BINGO ball barrel again and reached inside.
The ball handler looked at the last letter…paused a moment…then cleared his throat and said, "D, eh?"
The crowd murmured and agreed that the third and final letter would be a "D".
"So, what letters were drawn, eh?"
"C-N-D."
CND didn't stand for anything and they all agreed that it was way too short and needed more letters, so they decided to include the "eh's"!
