This "i" thing you seem to be stuck on goes both ways psychologically. People trying to manipulate others will use the term "we" in order to convince them that they are a part of whats getting done or happening. This can be a trap and it can also assuage the ego of the other to make them feel they are more important then they are so they will support a given thing or ideology.
Weak ego's need to hear "we". When in truth the "i" who is the catalyst to leading and directing a given thing is the only reason it works or is being accomplished.
A strong ego has no problem recognizing that a leader who uses the term "i" in order to describe how he or she set up and directed something explained it's origination.
Remember when Obama said, you didn't build that. It was like saying you are not essential or were not needed to make it happen. He was feeding into very insecure and weak egos. And the truth was, it was your money, your hours of sweat equity and your ideas that were needed to pull it all together or it never would of been brought to fruition.
Bottom line…the "i" is a bit of a slide and psychological manipulation when you call someone out for using it, when in fact it is the correct assessment of how things worked in that situation.
