Is the Order of Malta in the Catholic Church the same as the degree "Knight of Malta" in freemasonry? I know it should be kinda obvious but I need to be sure. Because they seems to be into volunteers activity, and I want to do charity works. However I don't want to become an useful idiot

Yeah it must be as you say, the Catholic church is either corrupted from the very beginning or has been subverted.

I'm not baptized yet, but I wanted to become Orthodox. the more decentralized it is, the more it is difficult to totally subvert. However I believe a completely personal interpretation of scripture is the best way gain heretic beliefs, so I won't be protestant/ part of an independent church.
