BlackRock’s Woke Green Agenda Is All About BlackRock’s Bottom-line, Not Its Portfolio Companies’

In a Wall Street Journal op-ed titled “BlackRock’s Climate-Crusade Doubletalk,” entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy takes aim at BlackRock CEO Larry Fink’s annual letter urging corporate leaders to put their companies’ “purpose” as the “foundation” of their relationship with their stakeholders while also pursuing a climate change agenda favored by BlackRock.

Ramaswamy, the author Woke, Inc.: Inside Corporate America’s Social Justice Scam, writes that Fink “claims he wants CEOs to stay true to the purposes of the companies they run, while also demanding that they advance the corporate purposes that BlackRock favors. He can’t have it both ways.”

Ramaswamy offers clear examples of how a company’s primary “purpose” can be wildly at odds with the agenda of its major shareholders when BlackRock is the shareholder. He writes:

Take Exxon Mobil. In 2018 the company’s guiding principle was clear: “Exxon Mobil Corporation is committed to being the world’s premier petroleum and petrochemical company.” The company stated that its first responsibility was to make money for shareholders.

Then last year a little-known investment firm called Engine No. 1, which held a 0.02% stake in Exxon, won three seats on Exxon’s 12-member board. Engine No. 1 waged an activist campaign claiming that Exxon should reduce its carbon emissions and become a global leader in profitable clean-energy production. BlackRock, Exxon’s second-largest shareholder, voted for three of Engine No. 1’s climate-focused board candidates. BlackRock claimed that its vote was motivated by concern over Exxon’s lack of a clear climate-change strategy. Every savvy market participant at the time knew that Engine No. 1’s proxy battle would end wherever BlackRock cast its die. Few knew that Engine No. 1 CEO Jennifer Grancio had been a managing director at BlackRock from 1999 to 2018.

The world’s most influential impact investor had its desired impact. Before the proxy battle, Exxon had planned to increase oil and gas production by 25% over the next five years. After the proxy battle, Exxon plans to keep oil output at the lowest level in two decades, a 20% decline from prior forecasts. More recently, it pledged net-zero global emissions in its own operations by 2050. Exxon Mobil once had a clear purpose, but BlackRock didn’t want the American oil-and-gas company to be “guided” by it. BlackRock wanted the company to change it. And that’s what Exxon did.

Ramaswamy notes that this same problem is confronting Royal Dutch Shell, which also has BlackRock as its largest shareholder.

Fink’s annual letter stresses that BlackRock isn’t trying to foist its climate crusade on companies; it is merely encouraging its portfolio companies to move in the direction of a zero emissions future because that is the direction in which the world is moving. But Ramaswamy calls this a circular argument – because the world is moving in this direction due to BlackRock, as the world’s largest asset manager, pushing it there. Not only does BlackRock have $10 trillion in assets under its management, it also has BlackRock alums in key positions in the Biden administration advancing the green agenda. Thus, Ramaswamy argues, Fink’s “claim that he is merely responding to the ‘transition to a net zero world’ obscures his own firm’s role in catalyzing that transition.”

Ramaswamy concludes that Fink “should be honest about whether he wants BlackRock’s portfolio companies to pursue their own corporate purposes or the purposes that BlackRock favors.”

Montreal Mayor Demands Reopening Plan as Truckers Hit Quebec

Montreal Mayor Valerie Plante on Sunday asked the Quebec government to provide a detailed plan for “reopening” the province as it emerges from strict coronavirus emergency measures.

Perhaps not coincidentally, the Quebec branch of the Freedom Convoy anti-mandate protest movement held a rally over the weekend.

The three-day Quebec City Freedom Convoy event was considerably more limited in scope than the huge, ongoing demonstrations in other parts of Canada. The police announced they would not allow truckers to block the main streets of the province’s capital city, a dozen fines were handed out, and the truckers largely dispersed on Sunday – although event organizers called on the truckers to return in two weeks.

Quebec was already scheduled to begin lifting some of its pandemic restrictions on Monday, including limited reopening for theaters, public events, and places of worship. Spas and gyms will be allowed to reopen at 50 percent capacity on February 14. Bars, breweries, and casinos remain closed until further notice, however.

On Sunday, Mayor Plante pointed out that businesses and event planners in Montreal and across Quebec need to know when venues would reopen, flights would resume, and guests could look forward to booking rooms. They also need to know what plans were in place to deal with any further health emergencies.

“We are asking the provincial government and public health authorities to share a plan, like other provinces have done, so we can tell congresses, visitors and tourists: ‘Here is a plan for how you can come to Montreal this spring and this summer,’” Plante said.

“There has to be a plan. What is the plan for the measures for the spring and for the summer? People are booking … flights right now,” she noted.

“The Quebec government has been helpful during the COVID waves, but we are asking them not to forget smaller venues, smaller events that fully contribute to the dynamism and economic growth of Montreal,” she said.

“Montreal is a dynamic and vibrant city, but it is perceived now as closed — without plans for its reopening,” warned Tourisme Montreal president Yves Lalumiere, joining Plante’s press conference by video link.

“I think our reputation as an open city, a very international city with record-breaking numbers of visitors, is at risk as other cities have reopened and made clear statements,” Lalumiere cautioned.

Tourism industry representatives told Canada’s Global News they feared travelers might bypass Montreal and look to other cities that have faster and more specific reopening plans.

“We were the first to shut down and we are now the last ones to reopen,” complained Glenn Castanheira of Montreal Centre-Ville, the city’s downtown business, and tourism area.

“We’ve managed to postpone some of the stuff that we had booked for January, February and December, but we’ve lost a lot of shows straight up because artists are just fed up with rescheduling,” said the head of a Montreal booking agency.

As recently as late January, Quebec health officials resisted calls to publish a firm reopening calendar. They said one reason they hesitated was to see whether the elementary and high school reopenings authorized on January 17 caused a surge in coronavirus cases.

Kerry Chant says people in NSW may need extra doses of COVID-19 vaccine

NSW's Chief Health Officer says additional COVID-19 vaccine doses may be recommended to the public as part of an "ongoing journey" through the pandemic.

Key points:

The number of people being treated in hospital has fallen to 2,068

Booster rates have risen to 44 per cent of the eligible population

Kerry Chant says health advice could change as the pandemic evolves

Kerry Chant stressed people should not consider themselves as having "optimum protection" from the virus until they have had three doses — or four jabs for immunocompromised people.

Only three of the 18 people who died from COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 4pm yesterday had received a booster shot, she said.

"I want to also convey to the community that we will have an ongoing journey with COVID as we transition," Dr Chant said today.

"We may be recommending, in future months, additional vaccines based on that ATAGI (Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation) guidance.

"So rather than seeing it all as (a plan to) just to get to here, it is going to be a fact that we will have to continue to adopt and calibrate to the new challenges in our learning.

"But the vaccines work. They are so incredibly effective… so please go out and get your boosters."

Federal Judge Restructures Timeline For FDA To Release FOIA Pfizer Vaccine Documents, Issues No Ruling on if Pfizer Can Interfere; First Batch Was Set For Jan 31st, Now FDA Has Another Month-Plus – What Are They Hiding?

In yet another delay, a Federal Judge issued an order that grants the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) another month to comply with a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request that requires the agency to begin turning over all of the 450,000-plus documents that were analyzed in its decision to approve Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine.

On Wednesday, Texas Northern District Judge Mark Pittman made the decision after the group behind the FOIA request, Public Health and Medical Professionals for Transparency, filed a joint status report that reached an agreement with the government on how fast the documents will be produced.

The FDA had originally asked for 75 years, but Judge Pittman shot down the ridiculous request in January, setting a schedule that would see the documents turned over in a matter of months.

The original timeline for the documents to come out required the FDA to release over 12,000 documents on January 31st and 55,000 every 30 days after that, which would have taken a total of about 8 months. Thankfully, the new schedule does not prolong the overall timeline by too much, but it does backload it significantly, leaving the information in the hands of an agency that has been deceptively hiding information for months and actively attempting to cover its own ass.

It’s also worth pointing out that the FDA was allowed to squeak past the original deadline by a couple of days without producing anything, even before this new ruling went into effect on February 2nd.

Instead of being required to release the first batch of documents as originally planned, the FDA now has until March 1st, and it will only be required to release 10,000 pages, with another 10,000 following on April 1st.

Keep in mind that on the original timeline, the FDA would have produced over 122,000 documents by that time – with this, the number is only 20,000.

Beginning in May, the FDA is required to produce 80,000 additional pages for the next three months, one due May 2, one due June 1, and one due July 1, before ramping back down. On August 1st, another 70,000 pages will be required, with 55,000 coming on the first of each month after that, until all documents are released.

By November, all of the information should be public, which is about 30 days behind the original timeline.

The schedule change comes just days after Pfizer filed a motion that asked the judge to allow the vaccine manufacturer to interfere in the release of the data by making its own redactions to the documents to go alongside the FDA’s redactions, but no decision has been reached by Judge Pittman on that matter as of yet.

IRS Abandons Plans To Require Third-Party Facial Recognition

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will not use a third-party company to verify new accounts with facial recognition, the agency announced on Monday in a news release.

The proposed move, which would have used the company ID.me, was criticized resoundingly by privacy advocates and some members of Congress, who say the technology is flawed and would not recognize users if they experienced significant physical changes. Previously, the IRS said it would use the software to cut down on fraudulent accounts.

The IRS “will transition away from using a third-party service for facial recognition to help authenticate people creating new online accounts,” according to its news release. “The transition will occur over the coming weeks in order to prevent larger disruptions to taxpayers during filing season.”

At the same time, the agency continued, it will “bring online an additional authentication process that does not involve facial recognition.” It’s not exactly clear how that will be accomplished ahead of the tax-filing deadline in mid-April.

“The IRS takes taxpayer privacy and security seriously, and we understand the concerns that have been raised,” said IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig in a statement.

“Everyone should feel comfortable with how their personal information is secured, and we are quickly pursuing short-term options that do not involve facial recognition.”

The IRS’s change will “not interfere” with taxpayers’ capability to file their tax returns or pay the taxes owed, the agency confirmed.

“During this period, the IRS will continue to accept tax filings, and it has no other impact on the current tax season. People should continue to file their taxes as they normally would,” said the IRS.

Some members of Congress hailed the move on Monday.

“This is big,” Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) wrote on Twitter in response to the IRS’s policy change.

“While this transition may take time, the administration recognizes that privacy and security are not mutually exclusive.”

The Truckers, GoFundMe, and the CIA; connecting dots

As of this writing, GoFundMe has cut off (stolen) $9 million from the Canadian Trucker Convoy.

The money was donated by thousands of individuals to support the truckers, who are demanding the Canadian government cancel vaccine mandates, vaccine passports, and brutal COVID restrictions.

After a major backlash from the enraged public, GoFundMe has stated it will automatically refund all $9 million to the individual donors.

Regardless, GoFundMe will not forward the money to the group it was intended for: the truckers.

All right: here come the dots—

A venture capital firm, Accel, and Technology Crossover Ventures, own the majority stake in GoFundMe.

The big infusion of cash that sent Mark Zuckerberg and his fledgling college enterprise on their way came from Accel, in 2004.

Jim Breyer, head of Accel, attached a $13 million rocket to Facebook, and nothing has ever been the same. (Breyer—billionaire, CFR, World Economic Forum, major fund investor in China.)

Earlier in 2004, a man named Gilman Louie joined the board of the National Venture Capital Association of America (NVCA). The chairman of NVCA? Jim Breyer. Gilman Louie happened to be the first CEO of the important CIA start-up, In-Q-Tel.

In-Q-Tel was founded in 1999, with the express purpose of funding companies that could develop technology the CIA would use to “gather data.”

That’s not the only connection between Facebook funder and Accel’s Jim Breyer and the CIA’s man, Gilman Louie. In 2004, Louie went to work for BBN Technologies, headed up by Breyer. Dr. Anita Jones also joined BBN at that time. Jones had worked for the CIA’s In-Q-Tel and was an adviser to DARPA, the Pentagon’s technology department that helped develop the Internet.

With these CIA/DARPA connections, it’s no surprise that Jim Breyer’s jackpot investment in Facebook is not part of the popular mythology of Mark Zuckerberg. Better to omit it. Who can fail to realize that Facebook, with its endless stream of personal data, and its tracking capability, is an ideal CIA asset?

Accel co-owns the majority stake in GoFundMe. Accel has a history of rubbing shoulders with the CIA. Accel helped launch Facebook, the largest profiling and data-mining company in the world.

Given all this, it might be more surprising if GoFundMe DIDN’T cut off the Canadian truckers’ $9 million.

It’s also worth mentioning that Accel has invested in Spotify, the platform whose number-one star is Joe Rogan. Spotify is now under pressure to cancel Rogan, because his views and guests don’t align 100% with the official COVID narrative. In step one of a new censorship program, Spotify has stated it will post warning messages on all content that veers from official COVID positions and offer links to approved government and public health sources (for outrageous lies).

GoFundMe, Accel, Facebook, CIA, In-Q-Tel, Jim Breyer, CFR, World Economic Forum, major investments in China.

Basically, The Club.

The member’s statement of belief: “More money for me, less freedom for the peons, global control.”
