I have heard some Bible scholars state this is a warning to those who would intentionally try to lead new born again christians astray with intentional false doctrine. People were burning kids alive for sacrifice to false gods and this act would be far worse but God said such a horrific act would never enter His thought process so man having such a thought would be beyond foolish.
