The Mystery of the Migrant Kids the Feds Are Spiriting Into the U.S. Interior

After months of delay, the Department of Homeland Security replied late last month to a Congressional demand for information about the number of illegal migrants the department has flown from border towns to communities around the country. In 2021, it said, 71,617 were dropped off in nearly 20 cities including locales as far from the Mexican border as Atlanta, Chicago, New York and Philadelphia.

Immigration experts critical of the Biden administration’s permissive immigration policies believe those numbers are incomplete, especially regarding the most vulnerable migrants, those under 18, whom DHS classifies as “unaccompanied children.” The agency says some 40,000 of the total transported are such minors, but that number is only a fraction of the 147,000 “encounters” the agency reports having with unaccompanied migrant children at the southern border between January and October 2021.

Paramount among the questions raised by the transports is what happens to the unaccompanied children once they leave the airport? The major cities DHS lists, the experts say, are probably simply way stations rather than final destinations.

“Everyone wants to know where they’re going, but nobody knows,” said Todd Bensman, a national security fellow at the Center for Immigration Studies, a Washington-based think tank. “Well, somebody knows,” he adds. “The government knows. But they are being as opaque and ‘darkened-windows’ as they can be about the entire matter.”

The lack of information raises a host of questions regarding the health and welfare of the children, and more:

What security checks are being performed — and background checks to ensure these minors are going to safe homes? How can checks be conducted on family members in the U.S. illegally who wind up taking custody of the children (a problem highlighted in a 2019 study)?

What processes are in place to ensure that these children have enough to eat, are receiving any necessary medical care, or are enrolled in school?

What traumas or crimes have they suffered along the way, at the hands of human traffickers, for example, and how are the cases being handled? (Through a public records request, Judicial Watch last year obtained a list of 33 incidents of alleged sexual abuse in a one-month period in 2021.)

What pandemic precautions have been taken, beyond masks seen in some furtively taken images of the transportees, by an administration that professes to be aggressively dedicated to eradicating COVID-19? (Illegal immigrants dispersed on commercial flights in 2021 were not tested for covid, and agencies did not follow preventive procedures, according to preliminary findings of a DHS Inspector General’s report reviewed by RealClearInvestigations.)

Who is responsible for making sure the migrants, children in particular, check in with the government and show up for court immigration hearings?

The difficulty of getting answers from the Biden administration is frustrating many state and local officials who say that tracking the thousands of illegal immigrants apparently melting into their communities is a maddening endeavor.

Currently Over 5 Million Questionable, Unlawful or Spurious Ballots Identified in 2020 Election in PA, GA and AZ — Will Republican Party Do Anything or Will They Allow this to Continue?

Over 5 million questionable ballots in the 2020 Election have been identified to date in three states – Arizona, Georgia, and Pennsylvania. These ballots were counted and prevented a President Trump win in each of these states and nationally.

In Arizona, around a million ballot issues have been identified to date since the 2020 Election.

In Arizona, 740,000 ballots were identified this past week that are missing chain of custody documentation.

Also, the canvassing work completed in Maricopa County estimated nearly 300,000 ballot issues, while the audit in Maricopa County included over 400,000 ballot issues. These results are in addition to the above chain of custody issues. Altogether there are around 1.4 million ballot issues in Arizona identified to date. Arizona should never have been certified in the 2020 Election where Joe Biden was given the state by 10,000 votes.

There are around 2 million ballot issues from the 2020 Election identified in Georgia since Election Day.

We heard two weeks ago that in Georgia nearly 2 million original ballot images have been identified that are missing. These images are required by law to be maintained because they provide support that the final ballot images are valid. Without the original images, we don’t know if these ballots were tampered with during the election. Joe Biden was awarded the state by 12,00o votes.

In Pennsylvania, around 2.5 million ballots were invalid in the 2020 Election.

In Pennsylvania, a court there ruled that the manner in which the state managed and allowed for absentee ballots before and since 2020 was not constitutional. This means that a very large percent of the absentee ballots in the 2020 Election were invalid in Pennsylvania. There were roughly 2.5 million absentee ballots in the state of which 80% went to Biden. Take away 2 million ballots in that election for Biden and half a million for President Trump and you have around 1.5 million invalid ballots in the state for Joe Biden. Biden was given the state by less than 100,000 ballots but roughly 2 million of Biden’s votes were invalid.

Truss gaffe in Russia revealed – media

Moscow described the exchange with Truss as being like the mute talking to the deaf

As Western diplomats scramble to resolve growing tensions with Moscow, the UK’s top diplomat has reportedly made a major error during crunch talks, allegedly proclaiming that London would never recognize the sovereignty of two regions universally considered to be part of Russia.

In an article published by Moscow daily Kommersant on Thursday, two Russian diplomatic sources claimed that British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss made the faux-pas while speaking in head-to-head discussions with her Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov.

According to the outlet, London’s top diplomat stressed that Moscow must withdraw its armed forces from the frontier with Ukraine, at which Lavrov reiterated that the Russian military is stationed in its own territory and has the right to conduct maneuvers within its borders.

The veteran Russian official is said to have turned to Truss and asked whether London recognizes Moscow’s sovereignty over the regions of Rostov and Voronezh, where large troop movements are said to have taken place in recent days, close to the Ukrainian border.

After a moment’s contemplation, the British diplomat reportedly replied that the UK “will never recognize Russia’s sovereignty over these regions.” The interaction is said to have spurred Deborah Bronnert, the UK’s ambassador to Moscow, to swoop in and quietly remind her colleague that the two are actually considered Russian territory even by her own government.

Later in the day, Truss explained that she initially thought Lavrov was talking about a part of Ukraine and that she had subsequently made it clear that these regions are in fact part of Russia.

Kommersant’s report follows shortly after Lavrov and Truss held high-stakes discussions in the Russian capital. Moscow's top diplomat expressed his dismay at the outcome of their exchange.

“Nobody is hearing each other, and unfortunately our efforts to explain ourselves have not been heard,” Lavrov said.

SEC Adopts New Disclosure Rules For Private Equity Shops And Hedge Funds

The SEC is pushing for new disclosure rules that would require hedge funds and private equity firms to disclose their quarterly performance along with the (typically hefty) fees they charge to investors.

The agency on Wednesday voted in favor of adopting a string of new rules that would require annual audits of private funds - including family offices like Archegos - while barring certain fees that buyout shops charge, while also barring preferential treatment for certain investors, according to the FT.

Funds affected by these new rules have roughly $18 trillion in assets under management, the SEC said. The move comes at a time when big investors like pension funds and endowments are allocating more money to so-called 'alternative' asset strategies, including real estate and infrastructure.

As SEC chief Gary Gensler explained, PE firms and hedge funds touch a wide swath of the economy via the companies in which they invest.

"Private fund advisers, through the funds they manage, touch so much of our economy," SEC chair Gary Gensler said. "Thus, it's worth asking whether we can promote more efficiency, competition, and transparency in this field."

The proposals are among the most stringent yet imposed on hedge funds and PE shops since the passage of the Dodd Frank Act a decade ago, the last time American regulators tried to impose tighter requirements on hedge funds and private equity shops.

"This is a path-breaking moment for the SEC," said Andrew Park, senior policy analyst at Americans for Financial Reform, a progressive campaign group. "They are making a concerted effort to get their arms around the massive growth of private markets especially over the past decade and to provide investors with the information they need to make sensible decisions."

EU capital bans ‘Freedom Convoy’ protest

Police will keep the Canada-inspired trucker demonstration out of the Belgian capital, its mayor says

Brussels Mayor Philippe Close announced on Thursday that a protest convoy of truckers will be barred from entering the city. Inspired by an ongoing demonstration against vaccine mandates in Canada, the truckers are set to reach the Belgian capital early next week.

“We have taken the decision to ban the ‘Freedom Convoy’ which has not been authorized to demonstrate because no request has been sent,” Close wrote on Twitter, noting that he made the decision along with Interior Minister Annelies Verlinden and Brussels region Minister President Rudi Vervoort.

Local and federal police “will divert motorized vehicles coming towards the capital despite the ban,” Close added.

Drawing participants from across the continent, the protest is inspired by a similar demonstration in the Canadian capital of Ottawa. Traffic in parts of Ottawa has been brought to a standstill for nearly two weeks by truckers demanding the immediate lifting of Covid restrictions, including a mandate that requires them to be vaccinated to re-enter the country from the US.

As host to key EU institutions, Brussels is a natural focal point for the European protest. While individual nations in the bloc have begun rolling back their vaccine pass systems at home, vaccination or proof of a negative Covid test is required to cross national borders within the union, and the EU recently proposed extending this system until 2023.

Truckers en route to Brussels have planned some stops along the way, with a major protest set to hit Paris this weekend. Authorities in the French capital issued a similar ban on Thursday, and threatened protesters with stiff fines should they block traffic in the city. Paris police said that a “specific device” would be used by the authorities to prevent the convoy from entering the city.
