Snow has fallen at several high altitudes in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir over the past 24 hours, causing temperatures to drop across the region.
Due to these weather conditions, minimum temperatures of 3-5 degrees Celsius are likely to drop in most parts of Central India in the next 48 hours.
The highlands of Uttarkashi and Chamoli in Uttarakhand received heavy snow on Thursday, while rains hit lower areas, exacerbating the cold across the state.
Quite extensive snowfall and rain is forecast to continue across the Western Himalaya region on Saturday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
Sporadic heavy rains and snowfalls will also continue today over Uttarhand, parts of Himachal and the Kashmir Valley.
