Capitol Hill Police – CPD “Has Become a Secret Police Force that Acts on Behalf of The Democratic Party”

Earlier this week, GOP Rep. Troy Nehls revealed that Capitol Hill police, dressed as construction workers, broke into his office during the November break. While inside, the officers took photos of the Texas congressman’s office, and then came back two days later to question and harass his staff using the illegal photos they took. On Wednesday, Rep. Nelhs joined Tucker Carlson to discuss the shocking incident, putting the blame squarely where it belongs – on the overseer of all Capitol Hill Police actions, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. During the segment, Nehls provided more details about what actually happened back in November and gave his two cents on why Pelosi was targeting him specifically. According to him, it’s no surprise, the democrats want to silence anyone with a dissenting opinion or who dares disagree with them – and they’re willing to weaponize federal law enforcement agencies to accomplish that task. Nehls called the investigation, which he confirmed was a criminal inquiry into his actions, “absolutely ludicrous.”

“Absolutely silly. Absolutely ludicrous. Why [was] the Capitol Police inside my office investigating me? And I was under criminal investigation. The chief of [Capitol Hill] police, Manger, he’s downplaying this, but I’m telling you, they’re coming after anyone that has a dissenting point of view [and] anybody that doesn’t agree with them.”

After giving a brief explainer of what happened to Nehls, Tucker absolutely shredded the unbelievable “weaponization” of law enforcement to spy on Republicans and called out the Capitol Hill police for morphing into “a Secret Police Force that Acts on Behalf of The Democratic Party” under Pelosi’s and Biden’s leadership. Tucker then welcomes on Nehls to provide his side of the story, asking him: “why you think this happened and why were they in your office?”

The reasons are very clear, according to Nelhs, they want to find dirt that will defame and destroy him:

“I think it’s very clear, Leader McCarthy selected me to be one of the five to be on the select committee, looking into January 6th, and I’ve been a very vocal critic of January 6th – specifically the Capitol Police, the leadership of the capitol police, [and] the [CPD] intelligence section – I’ve been very vocal about it.

All of the intelligence was there, it was glaring to them; it was in their face that we knew the Capitol was the target for January 6th. We knew that there were maps that were scattered throughout the whole city about the tunnels on January 6th. So all the intelligence was there, they knew the extremist groups were going to be there, and they did nothing with it.

I’ve exposed this and I’ve been very vocal about it… Even about the death of Ashli Babbitt and questioning why lieutenant Byrd’s investigation did not go to a grand jury, so this really doesn’t surprise me quite honestly. I’m being targeted right now and I believe that Nancy Pelosi is weaponizing the US Capitol Police to investigate me, to try to silence me, [to] intimidate me, and, quite honestly, to destroy me.”

Tucker responds by calling the entire situation “totally third world and crazy.” He then points out the unbelievable claims of the CPD, who said they were looking into Nehls in order to protect him – which makes little sense, especially because Nehls is the sitting congress member, and he was never informed about the investigation.

After Nehls provided a play-by-play rundown of the incident and pointed out that if this violation of rights can happen to a sitting member of congress – it can happen to anyone, Tucker calls on the congressman to “get every one of these cretins fired.”

“This is making my heart beat faster. This is the red line that you can’t tolerate in a free society. You can not use federal law enforcement agencies to go after your political enemies, period. I hope you get every one of these cretins fired."

Canada trucker protest – live: Automakers seek injunction to clear bridge as US warns of Super Bowl copycat

Protesters in trucks opposed to Covid-19 restrictions continue to paralyze the center of Ottawa as similar demonstrations have now spread beyond the Canadian capital to border crossing into the US. The Emerson Port of Entry in Manitoba is the latest to be blocked. The Ambassador Bridge that connects Windsor, Ontario, with Detroit was first blockaded by trucks in both directions late on Monday, with the final access being shut off on Wednesday night. As a crucial commercial link between the US and Canada it has quickly hit supply chains with car manufacturers including Toyota and Ford already announcing issues. The mayor of Windsor says protesters will be physically removed if necessary, and has been joined by auto parts manufacturers in seeking an injunction to clear the bridge.

In Ottawa, police have now threatened protesters with criminal charges. Approximately 20 trucks have been persuaded to leave and the police chief says they will be able to move more as extra resources become available. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has demanded the protesters go home, and the interim opposition leader Candice Bergen joined his call for an end to the stand off on Thursday morning, while also tabling a motion for the government to produce a timetable winding down pandemic mandates and policies. In the US, the Biden administration is closely monitoring the situation, with a Department of Homeland Security bulletin warning of copycat protests hitting the Super Bowl in Los Angeles, and the State of the Union address in Washington, DC.

Truckers may try to disrupt Super Bowl and the State of the Union, DHS memo says

The Department of Homeland Security says it has received reports that truck drivers who are protesting vaccine mandates will block roads in major cities in the coming weeks. The protests could potentially affect the Super Bowl in Los Angeles on Sunday and the State of the Union address in Washington, D.C., on March 1, according to an internal memo from DHS obtained by NPR. The memo, which went out on Tuesday, was issued by the department's Office of Intelligence and Analysis, Current and Emerging Threats Center. The memo says there are currently no threats of violence, but the protest has the potential to "severely disrupt" traffic, emergency routes and federal government operations.

Automakers face even more supply chain pain as Canadian protesters block a key bridge

The group of truckers plans to start the protest in California and make its way across the U.S. to Washington, D.C., with more truckers joining along the way, the memo says. "DHS is tracking reports of a potential convoy that may be planning to travel to several U.S. cities," a department spokesperson told NPR. "We have not observed specific calls for violence within the United States associated with this convoy and are working closely with our federal, state and local partners to continuously assess the threat environment and keep our communities safe."

Freedom Convoy" protesters from Canada may join

The potential protest seems to mirror the "Freedom Convoy" protests from truckers in the Canadian province of Ontario, which started last month. They have been blocking traffic on the U.S.-Canada border, most recently near Detroit. The DHS memo says that Canadian police described the event as a "complete blockage" of one of the highways. Truckers from these protests in Ottawa, the capital city, may also be joining the potential gathering in Washington, D.C., the DHS memo says. The impacts from the protests in Canada have been significant. Ottawa is under a state of emergency, and officials, including Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, have called on the protesters to leave.

DHS finds a mapped route from LA to D.C. on social media

The memo also notes that DHS officials have been tracking social media posts around the Super Bowl, including ones with the hashtags #ShutDownSuperBowl and #SuperBowlTrafficking. According to relevant posts, which law enforcement officials started to track around Feb. 3, there were several social media posts with instructions on how an anonymous trucker convoy could disrupt the Super Bowl's security operations.

On Feb. 6, officials found a flyer posted online that said "Shut Down the Super Bowl," with details of a "medical freedom demonstration" near SoFi Stadium on the day of the game, Feb. 13. The flyer also mentioned a truck convoy. Screenshots of maps with directions from Los Angeles to D.C. were also posted, as well as recommendations to travel to Washington and state capitals. But as of now, the memo notes that law enforcement officials in Washington, D.C., have not seen an uptick in hotel bookings in the area for the potential protests. Ahead of the Super Bowl this Sunday, DHS says it has dedicated more than 500 people to support security measures around the event. Around 70,000 people are expected to attend the game, according to DHS, and the protest is potentially planned for 12 p.m. local time in LA.

Gov. Sisolak lifts mask mandate in Nevada effective immediately

Gov. Steve Sisolak announced Thursday that Nevada’s statewide mask mandate for indoor public settings would lift, effective immediately. "Masks will no longer be required in public places, but there are still some locations where you may be asked to wear a mask," Sisolak said, regarding Emergency Directive 052. The mask mandate will lift for all Nevadans, regardless of vaccination status. Individual businesses will be able to institute their own mask guidance if they choose. Also, the governor's office encouraged any at-risk individuals with underlying health issues to continue to wear masks to to help protect their persons. Nevada’s mask guidance has been in lockstep with Centers for Disease Control guidance since July 2021. Counties had to show low or moderate COVID-19 transmission for two consecutive weeks in order to lift the mask mandate in that county.

As of Feb. 1, the entire state still had high COVID-19 transmission rates, according to Nevada Health Response. The CDC continues to recommend indoor masking in public settings, regardless of vaccination status, in areas with high transmission rates. "Please be as considerate and as kind as you can possibly be," Sisolak pleaded, regarding people who still wish to wear masks. "I encourage everyone to follow your conscience… I think we're taking another step forward."

SCHOOLS

In education settings, whether public, private or charter, schools may adopt a strict mask policy, but beginning Feb. 11, they were no longer be required on a state level.

Beginning at the end of the school day today, February 10, 2022, masks will no longer be required on CCSD campuses, schools, or facilities but will remain required on school buses. Because COVID-19 continues, students and employees of CCSD can make the individual choice to continue masking.

At this time, all other COVID-19 mitigation measures remain in effect.

The U.S. States That Are Ending Mask Mandates

Several governors have moved to ease mask requirements since Jan. 1. Here’s how policies are changing.

Several states are moving to eliminate mask mandates as the number of reported coronavirus cases dips to its lowest level since December, when the highly contagious Omicron variant touched off a wave of cases. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention continues to urge mask use as a means to reduce transmission of the coronavirus.

The push to let people remove their masks highlights the patchwork nature of health protocols, which have been applied inconsistently since the pandemic began in the United States in early 2020. (Find all state-level policies and guidance on masks here.)

Here is what is shifting at the state level:

California

The state will allow its universal indoor-mask mandate to expire on Feb. 15, officials announced. Masks will still be required indoors for people who are not vaccinated. Everyone in high-risk settings, including hospitals and schools, will still have to wear a mask.

Connecticut

A mask edict covering students and staff in the state’s schools will be lifted no later than Feb. 28, Gov. Ned Lamont said.

Delaware

The state’s mask rule for businesses and workplaces will expire on Feb. 11, but the one for schools will remain until March 31, Gov. John Carney said.

Illinois

A statewide indoor mask requirement in Illinois will be lifted on Feb. 28, Gov. J.B. Pritzker said.

Massachusetts

The statewide school mask mandate will expire on Feb. 28, Gov. Charlie Baker announced.

Nevada

The state lifted its statewide mask mandate on Feb. 10, Gov. Steve Sisolak announced.

Oregon

Oregon is set to end its mask decree for indoor public spaces no later than March 31, Gov. Kate Brown announced.

New Jersey

Beginning the second week in March, New Jersey will stop requiring students and school employees to wear masks, Gov. Phil Murphy announced.

New York

New York’s stringent indoor mask-or-vaccine system for business has ended, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced, ending a requirement that businesses ask customers for proof of full vaccination or require masks indoors. A school mask mandate is scheduled to expire on Feb. 21.

Pennsylvania

A mask requirement for K-12 students ended on Jan. 17.

Rhode Island

An indoor mask mandate will end on Feb. 11, state officials said.

Virginia

Gov. Glenn Youngkin issued an executive order on Jan. 15 that said parents could decide for themselves whether to follow school mask rules. The order aimed to end a mandate imposed by Mr. Youngkin’s predecessor, Ralph Northam. A judge in Virginia handed down a temporary ruling that seven school districts could continue to enforce mask-wearing.

Joe Rogan's Free Mason handlers won't let him move to Rumble

Joe Rogan Rejects $100 Million Podcast Deal Offer From Right-Wing Video Site Rumble

Embattled podcaster Joe Rogan said he isn’t planning to exit his Spotify deal to bring his popular — and controversial — show to Rumble, a video platform startup catering to right-wing personalities. Rogan, in a stand-up performance Tuesday in Austin, Texas, told the crowd he would not be moving “The Joe Rogan Experience” to Rumble, which earlier this week publicly offered him a $100 million deal. Rogan’s exclusive multiyear Spotify deal is reportedly worth more than $100 million. “No, Spotify has hung in with me, inexplicably,” Rogan said in answer to an audience member’s question about whether he was taking Rumble up on its offer, as reported by THR. “Let’s see what happens.”

Rogan has faced a storm of criticism and a backlash from Spotify users and artists in recent weeks, traveling along two different vectors: His repeated use of the N-word in past episodes of his podcast, and accusations that Rogan’s show has served as a platform for COVID misinformation. In a publicity move, Rumble — whose investors include conservative tech billionaire Peter Thiel and Fox News host Dan Bongino, who was recently banned by YouTube for policy violations — on Monday issued an open appeal to Rogan to move his podcast to its platform with an offer of $100 million over four years. “We stand with you, your guests, and your legion of fans in desire for real conversation,” Rumble CEO Chris Pavlovski wrote in the open letter, adding, “And yes, this is totally legit.” On his podcast Tuesday, Rogan complained that the viral video compilation of him using the N-word two dozen times was “a political hit job.”

“That video had always been out there. It’s like, this is a political hit job,” Rogan said. He continued, “And so they’re taking all this stuff I’ve ever said that’s wrong and smushing it all together.” Rogan also said the experience had been a “relief,” telling listeners, “It’s good because it makes me address some shit that I really wish wasn’t out there.” Last Friday, Spotify pulled 70 episodes “The Joe Rogan Experience” from the platform, dating from 2009 to 2018. The company said it removed those at the request of Rogan and his team after talking about his “racially insensitive” language in some episodes. In his stand-up routine Tuesday evening, Rogan said he used to say the N-word when talking about “a Richard Pryor bit or something” and that “I would say it in context.” He continued, “I haven’t used that word in years. But it’s kind of weird people will get really mad if you use that word and tweet about it on a phone that’s made by slaves.”

Previously, Rogan, in an Instagram post on Feb. 5, apologized over the supercut clip of him saying the N-word, calling it “the most regretful and shameful thing I’ve ever had to talk about publicly.” Spotify CEO Daniel Ek on Sunday sent a memo to employees saying the he was “deeply sorry” for how the Rogan controversy has affected them. But, he wrote, “I do not believe that silencing Joe is the answer… canceling voices is a slippery slope.” The media’s recent bright spotlight on Rogan switched on last month, when Neil Young demanded Spotify remove his songs or drop Rogan’s podcast, citing COVID misinformation on the show. Young’s boycott has been joined by a handful of others, including Joni Mitchell, India Arie, and David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash. On Monday, Young urged Spotify employees to quit, writing in a blog post, “Get out of the place before it eats up your soul.”
