Biden Fed Vice Chair Nominee Successfully Lobbied For Former Employer

Sen. Pat Toomey has accused Sara Bloom Raskin, President Biden's nominee to replace Randall Quarles as the Fed's Vice Chair for Supervision, of helping an obscure fintech firm obtain an "unusual" degree of access to the Fed's payment system. Now, CNBC has corroborated Toomey's suspicions by confirming that Raskin did indeed lobby Kansas City Fed President Esther George in 2017.

Raskin placed the call to George with the intent to lobby for her employer, a small fintech firm called Reserve Trust, to receive a Fed "master account". The lobbying occurred during 2017, when Raskin had left her role as the Treasury Department's deputy secretary. Prior to her Treasury work, she spent more than three years at the Fed as one of its governors.

After initially denying RT's request for a master account, the Kansas City Fed approved the company's second request for an account in 2018 after Raskin called and lobbied for them with Quarles.

Earlier this week during Raskin's confirmation hearing before the Senate, Toomey blased Raskin with questions about her relationship with Reserve Trust. Specifically, Toomey asked Raskin to turn over documents and to answer a series of detailed questions regarding her work for Reserve Trust, including what actions she took to help it obtain a Fed master account and any communications between Raskin and the Kansas City Fed or the Fed regarding Reserve Trust’s application.

In a letter sent to the Kansas City Fed, Toomey claimed that George had told him about the call that Raskin had made in 2017.

"On the evening of February 2, 2022, you and your staff spoke with my staff," Toomey told George in his letter.

"On that you call, you revealed that Ms. Raskin had, in fact, personally called you about Reserve Trust’s master account application after it had been denied."

The letter from Toomey, the ranking member on the Senate Banking Committee, came more than a week after Raskin was grilled by Senate Republicans during her confirmation hearing to become the next Fed vice chair for supervision, replacing Randal Quarles.

Amazon Bars Unvaccinated Workers From Receiving Paid COVID Medical Leave

Amazon has decreed that any of its warehouse workers who refuse to accept the vaccine will also forfeit the right to paid time off should they ever be infected with the virus - even though being vaccinated has little impact on the transmission of the virus, as the omicron wave clearly demonstrated to millions of American workers.

The e-commerce giant has decided to allow workers in its "fulfillment centers" to finally go mask-less inside its giant warehouses, which by all accounts are stuffy, hostile work environments - but only as long as they are vaccinated. The company is changing its policy in response to the governors of at least 12 states lifting their own respective masking requirements.

Amazon's policy change was first reported by WSJ:

"There has been a sharp decline in Covid-19 cases across the country over the past weeks. Along with increasing vaccination rates across the country, this is a positive sign we can return to the path to normal operations," Amazon’s memo says.

Amazon employs about a million workers in the US, most at its hundreds of warehouses throughout the country. Some US companies have required all workers and guests at their facilities to get a COVID jab, including tech giants such as Microsoft and Facebook parent Meta Platforms. Amazon hasn’t mandated that its workers get vaccinated, though it has offered incentives for them to do so, such as bonuses.

Even WSJ acknowledged that the company's new policies surrounding vaccination and paid medical "has moved closer to an outright vaccine mandate" as the company navigates "disruptions" to its delivery operations.

Amazon has so far required employees to wear masks, practice social distancing, and undergo temperature checks as part of its effort to stop the spread of COVID. But even as omicron spread widely across the country last month, Amazon shortened its paid time off policies for both vaccinated and unvaccinated employees to just one week. Prior to the change, employees were given 10 days of paid time off - and before that, they were given two weeks.

The changes coincided with a labor crunch last year that fortunately for Amazon didn't intensify until after its peak holiday season had ended.

Brian Geels identified nearly 100,000 ballots that should not have been included in the 2020 Election in Georgia. Secretary of State Raffensperger discounted Geels’s results, certified the election results for Job Biden with a 10,000 voter margin even though the standard of proof in an election contest in Georgia is doubt.

In the presentation with Garland Favorito at VoterGA on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, a special guest was introduced by the name of Brian Geels. Mr. Geels was hired by the Trump team in Georgia to review the results of the 2020 Election in that state. The Trump team sued the Georgia Secretary of State who certified the fraudulent results.

In the case of Trump vs. the Georgia Secretary of state, the Trump team used much of Geels’s work included in the documents in the court case. Mr. Geels shared with Favorito on Wednesday:

My name is Brian Geels and I was one of the main experts on the Trump v Raffensperger lawsuit, which was the Trump lawsuit that contested the certified results in the 2020 Election in Georgia…[Explains credentials] …I want to remind everyone that the standard of proof in Georgia in an election contest is doubt. We don’t have to prove fraud although there is plent of that kind of evidence. Data analytics itself cannot prove fraud on its own.

My opinion was that after looking at the data published by the Secretary of State on his website that we found enough irregularities and illegalities in the data that it would be impossible for one to truly know who won the election that was decided by less than 12,000 votes and there were 5 million votes counted in this election. So an error rate of 0.0024% would change the outcome.

One of the main tactics that the Secretary of State’s office took to defend itself against the points I raised in my report that was used in the President’s lawsuit is that, what I call the misdirection play. I watched this play out first hand as Secretary Raffensperger hid behind a friendly media disinterested in actually the claims made in the President’s lawsuit during the months that followed the election. I know this because the claims made in my affidavit were and still are public. And there were a bunch of media companies who wrote news articles about my expert testimonty [media listed]. None of these media companies writing investigative pieces called me to ask for context or comment and yet they still used my name in their articles and stated their opinions on the matter without consulting experts on both sides of the issue.

China Aims to Be ‘World’s Most Influential Power’, US Warns in New Indo-Pacific Strategy

The White House released its long-awaited Indo-Pacific Strategy on Feb. 11, outlining how it plans to deal with the increasing adventurism of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and to better secure and improve the region for the international community.

In an associated statement, the White House said that interest in the region from partners and allies was converging, and that the realm would play a critical role in the future development of the United States both economically and diplomatically.

“This convergence in commitment to the region, across oceans and across political-party lines, reflects an undeniable reality: the Indo-Pacific is the most dynamic region in the world, and its future affects people everywhere.”

The strategy, as such, focuses on five key concepts: That the Indo-Pacific ought to remain free and open, connected, prosperous, secure, and resilient.

Across these concepts, the strategy outlines various broad actions that the Biden administration intends to take in the region, including a plethora of investments in democratic institutions abroad and efforts to ensure that commons such as the skies and seas are navigated in accordance with international law.

The strategy centers on the United States’ intent and continued ability to leverage its relationships with partners and allies in the region to counter growing adventurism from the CCP.

“The PRC is combining its economic, diplomatic, military, and technological might as it pursues a sphere of influence in the Indo-Pacific and seeks to become the world’s most influential power. The PRC’s coercion and aggression spans the globe, but it is most acute in the Indo-Pacific,” the strategy reads, referring to the country’s official name, the People’s Republic of China.

“Our collective efforts over the next decade will determine whether the PRC succeeds in transforming the rules and norms that have benefitted the Indo-Pacific and the world.”

The statement is important for clearly defining the CCP as the foremost challenge in the region, and stating plainly that the administration considers the competition between the two nations as nothing less than a battle between differing visions for the future of the global order.

“We recognize the limitations in our ability to change China, and therefore seek to shape the strategic environment around China by building a balance of influences that advances the future we seek, while blunting Beijing’s efforts to frustrate U.S. objectives and those of our partners,” a senior administration official said during a Feb. 11 press call.

The official pointed out, however, that the document did not cover the administration’s entire China strategy, however, but presented its vision for further securing the region.

“This is not our China strategy. This—you know, we very clearly identify China as one of the challenges that is—that the region faces and, in particular, the rise of China and China’s much more assertive and aggressive behavior,” the official said.

“But, you know, our China strategy is global in scope. It recognizes the Indo-Pacific as a particularly intense region of competition.”

=Canadian judge orders 7 p.m. end to border bridge blockade

A Canadian court ordered a group of trucker protestors off of a border bridge between Ontario and Michigan Friday, giving the blockade until 7 p.m. to disperse.

The so-called “Freedom Convoy” has been blocking traffic from the bridge for five days in protest of COVID-19 mandates, forcing plant closures and work stoppages in Detroit, Michigan, and Windsor, Ontario, because materials can’t get across the border.

Chief Justice Geoffrey Morawetz of the Ontario Superior Court gave the order following a four-and-a-half hour hearing, Friday, at which attorneys for the city of Windsor and auto parts manufacturers argued the protest was causing undue economic harm.

The blockade, in which protestors have blocked road access with pickup trucks and other vehicles, has caused supply shortages that have lead to General Motors, Ford, Toyota Honda and Stellantis to close plants or cancel shifts.

The ruling comes just hours after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau promised “quick action” to reopen the bridge on a call with President Joe Biden.

Oprah Employee Pleads Guilty to Raping Multiple Children

An employee of Oprah Winfrey has admitted to raping multiple children.

Netflix actor Jerry Harris intends to plead guilty in a federal child rape case, according to court records released ahead of his Thursday appearance.

According to court papers in Chicago, the Hollywood pedophile acknowledged to frequently attempting to rape youngsters during cheerleading contests.

Nypost.com reports: While sentencing guidelines call for up to 50 years in prison, it will be up to the judge to determine Harris’ fate at a hearing set for June 28, the outlet reported.

Harris, of Naperville, Illinois, has been held without bond at Chicago’s Metropolitan Correctional Center ever since his September 2020 arrest on a child pornography charge.

Federal prosecutors later filed additional charges alleging Harris coerced minors into sending him explicit photos, tried to persuade a minor to engage in oral sex at cheerleading events and solicited another for sex.

Harris admitted in an interview with FBI agents to having five to 10 victims, according to a criminal complaint.

Paris And Brussels Ban ‘Freedom Convoys’ With Threats Of Prison Time.. But The Protesters Say SCREW You, We Are Coming Anyway

Despite being told that they may face two years in prison for ‘blocking highways’, protesters are continuing their convoys in to the cities of Brussels and Paris.

Hundreds of motorists are presently their route to Paris, demanding an end to Covid restrictions, and police have threatened them with prison, a driving ban, and a €4,500 fine.

Police have designated the convoy a “undeclared mobilization” because they are concerned that the vehicles, vans, and motorcycles would paralyze the city.

Many of the French cars are flying Canadian flags in support of truckers protesting their own government’s draconian Covid regulations.

The Mail Online reports: But the demonstrators say despite the threats they will continue with their planned route to the French capital before moving to Brussels, hoping the new measures will bring further attention to their cause.

This morning, Belgian authorities said they would also ban freedom convoys amid warnings motorists will descend on the city on Monday.

‘Means are being put in place to prevent the blocking of the Brussels-Capital Region,’ the mayor of the Belgian capital, Philippe Close, said on Twitter.

Earlier today, Paris cops warned protesters: ‘There will be a special deployment… to prevent blockages of major roads, issue tickets and arrest those who infringe on this protest ban.’

The convoy aims to ‘block the capital by hindering road traffic,’ the statement adds.

‘Due to the risk of public order disturbances that this gathering could cause, the Prefect of Police issues an order prohibiting such demonstrations, from Friday February 11, 2022 to Monday February 14, 2022 inclusive.’

Despite the ban, organisers of the convoy have indicated that they will continue their journey to force a confrontation with the authorities.

They are being supported by the Yellow Vest anti-government movement, which has brought chaos to cities including the French capital in recent years.
