You would think that the Automotive companies would be supporting the Truckers - I picked Toyota as they have less plants in Canada, than the others

Toyota temporarily halts production in Japan due to parts crunch from COVID-19

 

Supplies are running short because of a lack of computer chips, which are crucial in auto parts. Plants in and out of Japan have undergone lockdowns and stoppages related to COVID-19 measures. Toyota has not given details.

 

December 20, 2021 - Toyota to halt production at 5 factories in January due to supply chain issues

TOKYO, Dec 20 (Reuters) - Toyota Motor Corp (7203.T) said on Monday it would suspend production at five domestic factories in January due to supply chain issues, chip shortages and the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Japan's top automaker said that the stoppage at the factories will affect about 20,000 vehicles, but won't impact their annual target to manufacture nine million vehicles.

As a plant in Simcoe, Ont. that makes Toyota parts has stopped production due to COVID-19 cases, manufacturing at facilities in Cambridge, Woodstock, and all across Canada have also been put on pause.
