The Democrat-led congressional committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riots acknowledged Tuesday it made an error in a subpoena that falsely to allegedly discuss overturning the November 2020 election results on behalf of then-President Donald Trump.

The committee chaired by Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., acknowledged the mistake in a communication to Kerik’s lawyer just hours after Just the News reported that Kerik could not have attended the meeting in Washington on Jan. 5 as alleged in the subpoena because he was in New York City for a family emergency, according to his own phone and tollbooth records.

The subpoena had attributed the allegation by footnote to a book by famed Washington Post journalist Bob Woodward, But the book actually made no such claim and did not even mention Kerik by name a single time in 482 pages, Woodward told Just the News on Monday night.

They were also caught doctoring text messages sent by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) during a committee hearing.

Russia issues warning to US

Another round of negotiations between Moscow and Washington on Ukraine has been held ahead of crucial talks

According to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lavrov stressed that “the propaganda campaign launched by the United States and its allies about ‘Russian aggression’ against Ukraine pursues provocative goals,” which, in his opinion, involved encouraging Kiev “to sabotage the Minsk agreements,” as well as “harmful attempts to resolve the ‘Donbass problem’ by force.”

The foreign minister also said the US and NATO ignored key provisions of the Russian proposals for European security, including a ban on the alliance’s eastward expansion.

“It was emphasized that these issues would be a focus point of our review of the documents received from the US and NATO, which will be brought to the attention of colleagues,” the foreign ministry said following the conversation, which was initiated by the American side.

“I spoke with Foreign Minister Lavrov today to urge a diplomatic resolution to Russia’s unprovoked military build-up around Ukraine. I reiterated that further Russian aggression would be met with a resolute, massive, and united Transatlantic response,” Blinken said on Twitter.

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that its head, Sergey Shoigu, had held a phone conversation with his US counterpart, Lloyd Austin. However, it did not reveal any details of the talks, saying that the ministers had discussed “security matters of mutual interest.”

The US Department of Defense also issued a brief statement, saying, “Russia’s force build-up in Crimea and around Ukraine” was discussed.

These talks, as well as the upcoming negotiations between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden, come as international tensions over the supposed ‘Russian invasion of Ukraine’ – something Moscow categorically denies – are quickly rising. As NATO builds up its military presence in Eastern Europe, several countries are evacuating diplomats from the embassies in Kiev and advising expats to urgently leave Ukraine. Earlier on Saturday, Russia also announced its intention to remove some of its diplomatic personnel out of fear of “possible provocations by Kiev or third countries.”

Putin-Biden call has ended

The call lasted just over an hour

US President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin have spoken by phone on Saturday as tensions remain at boiling point over Ukraine.

The call, which took place at the White House’s request, is the first between the two leaders since the end of December. It took place a day after US officials warned of an imminent Russian invasion of Ukraine, and hours after Washington pulled its troops – 160 military advisers – from the country.

Neither the Kremlin, nor the White House have provided any details on the conversation so far.

Despite the Americans warning of an invasion “any day now,” Moscow has written their warnings off as “fake news.” American officials have not provided any evidence for their claims, and pressed by reporters on Friday, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan cited US intelligence showing a “very distinct possibility that Russia might choose” to take military action “on a reasonably swift timeframe,” adding there is a “credible prospect” that this might happen in the coming days. However, Sullivan also added that the US does not actually know whether Putin will order an invasion or not.

Should Russia take military action, US Secretary of State Tony Blinken warned his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on Saturday of a “resolute, massive and united trans-Atlantic response.” However, President Biden has thus far ruled out sending US troops to Ukraine, choosing instead to send thousands to Poland and Romania instead.

CISA Now Warning of the Untimely Release of Secret Audit Report on Voting Machines in Georgia

A judge is withholding the release of an audit report of Dominion voting machines in Georgia. Now the federal government and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has inserted itself into the case and is asking the judge to delay the report longer.

We reported on this case previously. Per our report a week ago:

A federal judge is being urged to release a report that, despite the secrecy surrounding it, appears to indicate there are potential flaws in the Dominion Voting Systems’ equipment used in Georgia.

“The public deserves to know the context of J. Alex Halderman’s claims and his testimony regarding the 2020 election,” Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said last week in calling for the document to be released, the Washington Examiner reported.

“Georgia voters face an extreme risk that [ballot marking device]-based attacks could manipulate their individual votes and alter election outcomes,” Halderman, a University of Michigan computer science professor, said about the report last year, according to the Daily Beast.

Now the government is getting involved. According to the Washington Examiner:

A federal agency is reviewing a so-called secret report on alleged vulnerabilities in Georgia’s voting equipment.

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, an arm of the Homeland Security Department, is assessing the fresh doubts being cast on the security of Dominion Voting Systems and is asking a judge to hold off on ordering the release of the report authored by Alex Halderman, a computer science professor at the University of Michigan, which could have implications for election technology used in states across the country.

“Such premature disclosure increases the risk that malicious actors may be able to exploit any vulnerabilities and threaten election security,” the CISA said in a court filing Thursday.

Halderman, an expert for plaintiffs in a long-running lawsuit seeking to get Georgia to ditch electronic voting machines in favor of hand-marked paper ballots, was granted access to Dominion voting equipment in Fulton County for 12 weeks and produced a 25,000-word “secret report” that has been filed under seal, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, a Republican official who has vehemently defended the integrity of the 2020 election in the face of fraud claims by former President Donald Trump and his allies, has criticized Halderman and called for the report’s release, insisting that media reporting about it are sowing distrust ahead of the 2022 midterm elections. Raffensperger said in a statement last month that the report is “not an objective, academic study by a non-biased actor.”

We’ve reported on the Dominion machines used in the 2020 audit across the country numerous times. In a recent article, we pointed out that the machines likely are not ‘hardened’ as is required of many machines used by the federal government.

But hardening is the activities taking place before the machines are put in use. We don’t know what the results of the Georgia audit are or what audit activities were performed of the machines.

For some reason, Dominion is reluctant to allow experts to take a forensic look at their machines. They are suing to prevent this from occurring in Pennsylvania currently.

NEW FOOTAGE Shows Trained, Plainclothes Operatives Coordinating Break-In Through Capitol Window on January 6

American Gulag obtained this footage from Tommy Tatum showing a small group of unidentified individuals working in tandem to break a window on Jan. 6th.

In this video, a black-hooded man carries an Asian woman dressed in red, with a red hood, a US flag scarf, and a MAGA hat, onto the window sill on the west side of the Capitol Building.

An individual wearing military-issued glasses, a black mask, black earmuffs, and a green military-style fleece cap checks this occurrence and is pointed out at the end of this video.

The Asian woman motions to someone in the crowd and stomps her feet along with the drumbeat. Though she acts inconspicuously, she gradually kicks her foot back more aggressively. She attempts to knock out the window and fails (video below).

Within minutes, the individual in the green cap, black eyeglasses, and black mask motions for a man in a black helmet with an asp to proceed forward, striking the window (video below).

A man in a white Haines mask, camouflage ball cap, and sunglasses fix his gaze on the scene, speaking and motioning as well.

At one point, the man with the asp looks directly at the individual wearing the eyeglasses, green cap. As he pounds the window, she appears to instruct him, lowering her hand. She is actively working alongside him.

Eyewitness accounts before this video mention Antifa members working alone or in small groups to break windows. Yet this breach is unique. The triangular formation between the main actors is a common strategy in military law enforcement. Antifa members generally wear black and multiple backpacks, but this clothing is inconspicuous. The woman who assists the man with the asp wears attire similar to that issued in the Army or CIA.

Furthermore, these individuals-particularly the Asian woman-have specific training. Instead of taking selfies or texting family and friends-like other defendants-she fixes her attention on the crowd, slowly filming as if to identify faces. Instead of using blatant force, she acts destructively while blending with the crowd. Furthermore, the communication between these actors shows eye contact but very little speech.

Why didn’t the Asian woman stop if couldn’t kick out the window? How did she know to confer with this other woman?

How does the woman in the green cap know the man with the asp? Why does she summon him to help when she could have asked someone around her for assistance?

As these questions remain, there are still more unidentified actors conspiring within this video. Here is a video of a woman using a walkie-talkie around the same time the woman with the green cap is coordinating. Are the two coordinating with the man who has the asp?

China gives green light to Pfizer Covid pill

Paxlovid will be used to treat those at high risk of developing serious illness

China has given conditional approval to the importation and use of Pfizer’s Covid-19 antiviral pill Paxlovid. The Chinese drug regulator noted, however, that further research into the medicine is needed for it to be granted general approval.

China’s National Medical Products Administration announced on Saturday that it had “conducted an emergency authorisation review” of Paxlovid and subsequently “an approval with conditions was granted for the import registration of Pfizer’s Covid-19 treatment.”

The drug will reportedly be used in China to treat those with a “high risk of progression to severe disease,” according to the South China Morning Post.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) gave emergency use authorization to Paxlovid back in December, and the drug has also since been approved for use in the UK, Israel, Canada, Australia, and the European Union.

Pfizer expects to earn $22 billion in revenue from Paxlovid alone in 2022, with the company predicting as much as $102 billion in total revenue this year.

"QR Code, Never Again!" - Police Fire Teargas At Demonstrators As Freedom Convoy Enters Paris

Update (1135ET): Chaos ensues in Paris Saturday as hundreds, if not thousands of demonstrators blocked streets in the capital city.

NYTimes said, "thousands of cars, camper vans and trucks" have entered the metro area, which was part of a convoy to protest President Emmanuel Macron's medical tyranny of lockdowns and forced vaccines mandates.

This weekend, protests are banned in the city as more than 7,000 police officers were deployed to counter the "Freedom Convoy."

Officers had set up checkpoints at several of the main entrances to Paris on the road that surrounds the city, known as the Boulevard Périphérique. That prevented many demonstrators from entering.

But small clusters of protesters who managed to get past the checkpoints gathered at several places in the city, honking their cars and waving French flags. Some joined up with the anti-vaccine-pass marches that had been held on most weekends in Paris but had waned in recent months.

The different convoys, which had started out in cities like Nice, Brest, Lille and elsewhere, appear to be only loosely coordinated on social media and on instant messaging platforms. -NYTimes

Demonstrators in central Paris have so far been peaceful. People waved French and Canadian flags and chanted: "QR code, never again!" "Freedom!" "No to the vaccine pass!"

Another Banner Year for the Military-Industrial Complex

Opposing Build Back Better while throwing so much more money at the Pentagon marks the ultimate in budgetary and national-security hypocrisy.

Twenty twenty-one was another banner year for the military-industrial complex, as Congress signed off on a near-record $778 billion in spending for the Pentagon and related work on nuclear warheads at the Department of Energy. That was $25 billion more than the Pentagon had even asked for.

It can’t be emphasized enough just how many taxpayer dollars are now being showered on the Pentagon. That department’s astronomical budget adds up, for instance, to more than four times the cost of the most recent version of President Biden’s Build Back Better plan, which sparked such horrified opposition from Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and other alleged fiscal conservatives. Naturally, they didn’t blink when it came to lavishing ever more taxpayer dollars on the military-industrial complex.

Opposing Build Back Better while throwing so much more money at the Pentagon marks the ultimate in budgetary and national-security hypocrisy. The Congressional Budget Office has determined that, if current trends continue, the Pentagon could receive a monumental $7.3 trillion-plus over the next decade, more than was spent during the peak decade of the Afghan and Iraq wars, when there were up to 190,000 American troops in those two countries alone. Sadly, but all too predictably, President Biden’s decision to withdraw US troops and contractors from Afghanistan hasn’t generated even the slightest peace dividend. Instead, any savings from that war are already being plowed into programs to counter China, official Washington’s budget-justifying threat of choice (even if outshone for the moment by the possibility of a Russian invasion of Ukraine). And all of this despite the fact that the United States already spends three times as much as China on its military.

The Pentagon budget is not only gargantuan, but replete with waste—from vast overcharges for spare parts to weapons that don’t work at unaffordable prices to forever wars with immense human and economic consequences. Simply put, the current level of Pentagon spending is both unnecessary and irrational.

Price Gouging on Spare Parts

Overcharging the Pentagon for spare parts has a long and inglorious history, reaching its previous peak of public visibility during the presidency of Ronald Reagan in the 1980s. Then, blanket media coverage of $640 toilet seats and $7,600 coffee makers sparked public outrage and a series of hearings on Capitol hill, strengthening the backbone of members of Congress. In those years, they did indeed curb at least the worst excesses of the Reagan military buildup.

Such pricing horror stories didn’t emerge from thin air. They came from the work of people like legendary Pentagon whistleblower Ernest Fitzgerald. He initially made his mark by exposing the Air Force’s efforts to hide billions in cost overruns on Lockheed’s massive C-5A transport plane. At the time, he was described by former Air Force Secretary Verne Orr as “the most hated man in the Air Force.” Fitzgerald and other Pentagon insiders became sources for Dina Rasor, a young journalist who began drawing the attention of the media and congressional representatives to spare-parts overcharges and other military horrors. In the end, she formed an organization, the Project on Military Procurement, to investigate and expose waste, fraud, and abuse. It would later evolve into the Project on Government Oversight (POGO), the most effective current watchdog when it comes to Pentagon spending.

After New Texas Law Requiring ID Information on Absentee Ballots – 28% of Mail-In Ballots in Primary Rejected

Texas instituted a law that all absentee ballots must include an identification number with the filing. As a result over a quarter of ballots to date have been returned in a primary there.

A local Dallas newspaper, the Dallas Morning News, is reporting:

More than a quarter of absentee ballots mailed to Dallas County election officials as of Thursday for March 1′s party primary have been rejected, according to Dallas County Election Administrator Michael Scarpello’s office.

So far, Scarpello’s office has returned 166 ballots to absentee voters to allow voters to “cure” any issues with their ballots. The reason those ballots were rejected was not specified, and The Dallas Morning News is seeking clarification.

March 1′s primary is the first balloting the state is conducting since the controversial election law Senate Bill 1 took effect.

Across the state, election officials have reported issues with the new law related to absentee ballots due to a new provision requiring voters to supply either their Texas ID number or the last four digits of their Social Security number.

Those issues had been related to rejected mail-in ballot applications. But now, it appears SB 1 is having effects on actual ballots.

Democrats who prefer to steal elections because their policies are so anti-American are upset about the new law. They argue that requiring voters to provide some sort of basic reference of who you are is voter suppression. These are the same people who argue for vaccine mandates and passports. As reported in the article:

“Voter suppression is alive and well in Texas,” said Wesley Story, spokesman for Progress Texas in a news release. “Texans warned Republican lawmakers about the impact their anti-voter law would have but they passed it anyway, and now we’re seeing the consequences in real time.”

In Texas, voters don’t want Democrat open borders, vaccine mandates and passports, or illegal elections.

The Dems can’t win elections with their policies. They need the ability to steal elections because that is the only way they can win. Voter integrity laws are nothing the Democrats want.

High-Ranking Cop With ‘Sex Offender Unit’ Busted as Child Sex Offender, Trafficking Child Porn

Cobb County, GA — For years, it was the job of high-ranking Cobb County deputy sheriff, Peter Bilardello, to track and monitor sex offenders in his jurisdiction to protect the town from vile predators. The 51-year-old top cop is no longer in that position though, and now finds himself on the other side of the law. The very unit he was running will now be responsible for tracking and monitoring him after he was busted trafficking in images of child sexual abuse.

Bilardello was indicted this week on charges of distributing and possessing child pornography, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Northern District of Georgia said in a news release on Wednesday, Feb. 9.

“Bilardello allegedly shared child pornography through social media while he was employed as a law enforcement officer,” said U.S. Attorney Kurt R. Erskine. “The victimization of children is one of the most heinous crimes imaginable, and distributing images of child sexual abuse compounds the harm. It is especially troubling that these crimes were allegedly committed by someone in a position of public trust.”

According to court documents, in November 2019, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) received a report that a MeWe social media user had allegedly uploaded and shared approximately 12 images depicting children under 12 years old in sexually explicit conduct. NCMEC provided that information to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), who determined that the account user was likely located in Marietta, Georgia. The GBI then referred the information to the Cobb County Police Department.

It took nearly two years for the Cobb County Police Department to realize the person victimizing young children online — was one of their own.

On August 10, 2021, Cobb County Police determined that the MeWe account belonged to Bilardello, who at the time was a Cobb County Deputy Sheriff. He had been employed by Cobb County for more than 15 years and worked in the Sex Offender Unit of the Sheriff’s Office.

His position in the sex offender unit likely allowed him to temporarily escape accountability using his influence to throw investigators off of his trail. However, once a search warrant was finally issued, there was no more hiding.

Once police executed search warrants for the MeWe account, as well as Bilardello’s home and cell phone, they confirmed that Bilardello had uploaded and shared horrifying media of children being sexually abused. Investigators also recovered more than 100 images and videos depicting young children in sexually explicit conduct from his home. Bilardello was immediately arrested and resigned from the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office.

“The Cobb County Police Department is committed to investigating all crimes committed against the members of our various communities. But when it comes to crimes perpetrated against children, the men and women of our Special Victims Unit are the most dedicated and diligent in law enforcement. Our SVU investigators are committed to being the voices for the voiceless and fully investigating the most heinous acts committed against defenseless children,” said Cobb County Police Department Interim Chief Stuart VanHoozer.

Family company of Dr. Oz had largest fine in ICE history

A tree-trimming company partly owned by Dr. Oz and his wife Lisa’s family was fined $95 million by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency over a scheme to knowingly employ illegal immigrants.

The fine against Asplundh Tree Experts Co. was the largest ever levied in ICE history according to a 2017 agency press release.

“Today’s judgment sends a strong, clear message to employers who scheme to hire and retain a workforce of illegal immigrants: we will find you and hold you accountable,” then-ICE boss Thomas Homan said at the time.

The company was co-founded by Carl Asplundh, the maternal grandfather of Lisa Oz and remains controlled by family members. Dr. Oz is listed as a “shareholder” in the company, according to federal filings which also show he donated $23,000 to the Asplundh Tree Expert Co. Political Action Committee.

MyPillow CEO Donates Thousands of Pillows to Trucker Convoy in Canada

Mike Lindell, founder and CEO of MyPillow, is donating thousands of pillows to Canadian truckers protesting COVID-19 mandates and restrictions in Ottawa—as he praised the movement dubbed “Freedom Convoy” for all the work they have done.

“In Canada, they have backed off on some of the mandates,” Lindell said. “The truckers are gaining. It is working … they’re doing it now on the U.S. side. MyPillow’s getting involved. We’re shipping up pillows to all of the truckers.”

“I don’t know if they’ll let us into Canada, but we’re gonna try and get pillows to all of them,” he added. “Our voices are getting out there, and things are getting done to get this—to fight the evil. I mean, it’s just unreal.”

Lindell, an outspoken political activist, has become known for talking about election fraud claims. The American businessman also debuted a documentary that allegedly shows the November 2020 election involved high levels of fraud.

He has faced personal repercussions for his remarks about the election and Twitter also suspended him, citing alleged violations of the company’s civic integrity policy, before permanently banning the account. YouTube and Vimeo, meanwhile, took down his documentary, “Absolute Proof.”

The CEO’s latest donation is not the first time he assisted people in need with his product. Most recently, he sent more than 10,000 pillows to victims of the Kentucky tornado. In 2017, his team also shipped six trucks loaded with about 60,000 pillows to Houston in support of those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Lindell was quoted at the time: “For them, it’s a blessing to be able to … sleep well, or get help to sleep,” he said, adding that “a lot of them don’t have beds, they have to sleep in cars, shelters, etc.”

Mayor Accuses Truckers of ‘Economic Terrorism’ as Another Canadian Blockade Formed

Mike Bradley, mayor of Sarnia, Ontario, has accused Freedom Convoy protestors of engaging in “economic terrorism” after they set up a blockade on a highway along the border with the United States.

Mayor Bradley said that protests along Highway 402 were causing disruptions and delays along the Blue Water Bridge which connects Sarnia to the U.S. state of Michigan.

“At Sarnia City Hall, we have had protests here every Wednesday and Saturday for the last 18 months, that’s part of democracy,” Bradley said this week and added, “But those people are not interfering with the livelihoods of people, they’re not acting illegally, that’s the big difference on this. This is an illegal action, it is economic terrorism,” Blackburn News reports.

“Politicians aren’t supposed to direct police, but in an ideal world what I would be saying is this, ticket, tow and arrest if necessary because this is illegal,” Bradley added.

Protestors began the blockade of Highway 402 on Wednesday morning according to a report from broadcaster CBC and blocked part of the highway with 15 tractors, many of which were beating Canadian flags.

Failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will reportedly reenter the political sphere by speaking at the New York state Democrat Convention in late February.

Hillary will attend the convention at the Sheraton hotel in Times Square, CNBC reported, sparking “new speculation that she could run for the nation’s highest office again.”

A source told CNBC Hillary’s popularity is greater than President Biden’s, and suggested that speaking at the event will be useful to her, as it puts her in the spotlight.

“She’s beloved by the mainstream members of the Democratic Party and her popularity is likely higher than that of President Biden. It’s good for her because it keeps her relevant and her appearance is likely meant to galvanize the party and the audience,” the source said.

The establishment media seem to be doing their best to draw Hillary into the 2024 presidential race. “What’s behind the Hillary Clinton ’24 talk,” the title of a January CNN opinion piece read. Schoen Cooperman, former pollster for Bill Clinton, and Andrew Stein, a former New York City Council member, wrote in the Wall Street Journal that Hillary is the Democrats’ “best option” to defeat the Republican nominee for president in 2024.

Hillary is an “experienced national figure who is younger than Mr. Biden and can offer a different approach from the disorganized and unpopular one the party is currently taking.” the article stated.

The Journal’s op-ed is backed up by polling. A February poll revealed Hillary leads Biden in a hypothetical 2024 presidential primary match (46-43 percent). But when Hillary was polled against Trump in a general election showdown, Trump crushed Hillary by ten points.

With Biden’s average approval rating hitting 39 percent, Democrats campaigning for the November midterms have mostly spurned him. Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) chose to hold a campaign event with Hillary, leaving Biden watching from the sidelines. Biden not being asked to campaign with Democrats appears to be a trend:

When Biden visited Georgia in January to speak about federalizing elections, gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams did not attend his event due to a scheduling conflict. Gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke stated last week he is “not interested” in help from Biden during his Texas campaign.

Pennsylvania Democrats John Fetterman and Josh Shapiro on Thursday cited conflicts in their schedules for their absence during Biden’s visit to Pennsylvania.

Democrat candidates in Iowa and North Carolina have even stopped talking or tweeting about Biden. Moreover, Democrat Governors Association chair and North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper (D) completely avoided the question when asked about Biden’s role in the governors’ campaigns.

If Hillary is thinking about running in 2024, she will have to raise money. She has been advertising a hat for $30 and coffee mugs for $20.

“Take a sip from your new mug as you read the news…,” Hillary tweeted a photo of the mug and a headline that slammed Donald Trump.

Norway Lifts Almost All Remaining Coronavirus Restrictions

HELSINKI (AP) – Norway says it is lifting almost all remaining COVID restrictions as it doesn´t see a major health threat to citizens any more, even though the omicron variant is still spreading in the Nordic nation.

“This is the day we have been waiting for,” said Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere during a news conference in Oslo on Saturday. “We are removing almost all coronavirus measures.”

He justified the move by saying that Norwegians are well protected by vaccines against the COVID-19 pandemic and the proportion of citizens who end in up in hospital has remained low despite the spread of the omicron variant.

As of Saturday, Norwegians are no longer required to wear masks in crowded places and the one-meter (3-foot) distancing rule is abolished. In addition, self-isolation requirements are lifted and replaced with a recommendation that infected adults stay at home for four days.

In December, Norway went into partial lockdown to limit the spread of the omicron variant.

New Zealand’s Covid Cops Fail to Disperse Freedom Convoy with 80s Music

New Zealand’s freedom convoy has maintained its position outside the Parliament on Saturday despite varying police efforts to disperse them, including blasting the Macarena on loop, arrests, and even turning the garden sprinklers on.

After failing to deter a freedom convoy by attempting to arrest around 120 people on Thursday, New Zealand’s police officers have attempted to remove the protest of up to 1,500 people protest that has been in place in the Parliament’s grounds since Tuesday, with less orthodox police tactics.

Reports have emerged that the NZ authorities attempted to remove protestors by blasting them with pro-vaccine propaganda and also 80s and 90s classics such as the Macarena and Barry Manilow songs on repeat.

Protesters however responded by dancing to the music and blaring back their own songs such as the Twister Sister’s We’re Not Gonna Take It, according to a report from The Telegraph.

Authorities also tried to shift the protesters – some of whom are camping within the Wellington Parliament’s grounds – by turning on the parliament lawn’s sprinklers, but protesters dug trenches and assembled plastic tubing to drain the water from the area and prevent it from affecting the campsite.

Wellington’s police have been forced to take a more relaxed approach with the protestors after footage went viral of them dragging a naked lady out of the protest by her hair on Thursday, which triggered widespread condemnation of the police.

The extreme police tactics reinvigorated the protest – as numbers on Thursday had dropped to around 200 from an initial thousand on the first day of the protest – with 1,500 people arriving to support the freedom convoy on Friday.

Despite Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern initially supporting the protest, saying, “People often protest on the front lawn of Parliament. It is part of New Zealand” — authorities quickly shifted their stance and declared that the protestors are in fact trespassing.

Convoy participants have challenged this order, questioning how they can trespass on public property, saying it belongs to the people as it had been paid for by the “blood of our forefathers on the battlefield” and “our taxes”.

Protestors, including those using their vehicles to block the roads around the Parliament, have committed to staying in place “as long as it takes” for the government to repeal coronavirus restrictions such as obligatory masks for children in schools and vaccine mandates for certain jobs such as healthcare workers.

‘Kowtowing’ Boris Looks to Restart Trade Talks with Communist China

Prime Minister Boris Johnson will reportedly re-open high-level trade talks with Communist China for the first time since 2018 despite concerns over widespread human rights abuses and the British parliament declaring a genocide is being committed in Xinjiang.

Trade talks between Britain and Beijing effectively collapsed in 2018 following the vicious crackdown on the pro-democracy movement in the former UK colony of Hong Kong and the imposition of the draconian national security legislation on the city, which has all but stamped out the freedoms promised to Hong Kong under the Sino-British Joint Declaration.

However, according to a report from POLITICO, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has personally pushed for a reset of post-Brexit trade talks with the communist state, a government official claimed. The news outlet said that government officials are currently in talks to set up a meeting of the U.K.-China joint economic and trade committee (JETCO) to open up negotiations with Beijing, the first time such a meeting will have been held since 2018.

It comes on top of reports indicating that Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak is preparing to hold an economic summit with China, under the UK-China Economic and Financial Dialogue, which last met in 2019.

A government official told the online outlet: “The Treasury are keen to revive it for this year and are nervous about a more hawkish China policy.”

Commenting on the move, former Tory Party leader and co-founder of the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China, Sir Iain Duncan Smith said: “If this government decides that they are going to kowtow to China by going over there and begging them to trade I have to tell you that they can think again.

“I make no bones about this: I will not let it rest if we start now, amid all the evidence of genocide, brutality, crackdowns on peaceful protesters, and go traipsing along there as though nothing happened. There’s no good them telling us that they’re going to clean up their act — because they never do.

“The result of all of that is this will be a phenomenal breakthrough for China, who are just beginning to feel the pressure.”
