Eyes on. FF narrative?

Pittsburgh's bridges on the brink: City's spans decaying with little help

For state leaders, it was a massive infusion of money hundreds of millions of dollars from a law passed nearly a decade ago that allowed Pennsylvania to radically overhaul its aging bridges, and slash the number in poor condition by more than half. It would upgrade or replace hundreds of bridges across the state and make them safer. But in Pittsburgh, the city of bridges, the spans languished. Nowhere was that more apparent than in a bridge that linked two city neighborhoods for generations: Fern Hollow. Had the 49-year-old bridge been owned and maintained by the state, it’s likely that it would have been fixed long before the Jan. 28 collapse that injured 10 people and left vehicles crushed in the rubble, data shows. The devastating failure underscored the dangers of the city's creaky framework on the very day President Joe Biden was visiting Pittsburgh to tout his $1 trillion infrastructure plan. And it demonstrated the massive gap in bridge repairs or replacement that has evolved in Pennsylvania over the last decade.

A Pittsburgh Post-Gazette investigation found that over the past 10 years, the state sunk millions of dollars into renovating the bridges it owns in Pittsburgh, slashing the number of spans in “poor” condition by about 90%. Only three are left. By contrast, Pittsburgh has been stuck over the past decade with the same number of bridges in poor condition – 22 in all. In Pittsburgh, not only were far fewer city-owned bridges upgraded to a safer condition, but they stayed in poor condition for much longer than state-owned spans. Consider: Of the 79 bridges owned by Pittsburgh, one in five — including Fern Hollow — has been rated poor for at least a decade. As for the state? There’s no bridge of the 193 it owns in the city that has carried the poor rating for that long.

Long time UFC Color Commentator Joe Rogan Will Not Appear on UFC 271 Broadcast, scheduling conflict cited.

After weeks of being plastered all over Twitter, the internet, talk radio, and cable television, many were expecting to get a glimpse of Joe Rogan doing one of his primary jobs in providing color commentary at UFC 271 on Saturday night. Well, it’s not going to happen. Citing a “scheduling conflict,” the UFC announced that Rogan would not appear on the broadcast. Instead, UFC veteran Michael Bisping will join fellow broadcasters John Anik and former UFC champion Daniel Cormier. The move comes as a surprise since it was revealed as recently as Wednesday that Rogan would be on the broadcast. As the above tweet from Outkick’s Clay Travis suggests, the question now becomes, why? Why is Rogan not appearing on the broadcast?

Rogan has been embroiled in weeks of public controversy as leftists attempt to remove his podcast from Spotify after the longtime UFC color commentator had anti-mandate voices such as Dr. Peter McCullough and Dr. Robert Malone. Rogan has also been reeling after video of him using the n-word out of context was released last week.

Could ESPN have ordered the “Code Red” on Rogan?

Could they have demanded that he be left off the broadcast? Sure. However, while ESPN airs the UFC pay-per-view, Rogan and UFC President Dana White are longtime friends, and it’s extremely unlikely that White would consent to that request. Though, given that Rogan relocated to Austin, Texas, and is only three hours away from UFC 271 in Houston, it is bizarre that Rogan would not be on the broadcast. Of course, there’s always the chance that Rogan, one of the busiest men in the world, does indeed have a scheduling conflict. However, for those looking for alternative theories, a likely explanation is that Rogan pulled himself from the broadcast. Thursday’s press conference with headlining fighters Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker featured an impassioned speech from Adesanya in which he defended Rogan and blasted his critics. Nor was Adesanya alone; dozens of fighters, trainers, and personalities from the MMA world have rallied to Rogan’s support during cancel culture’s attempt to silence him.

Something that could be big - FSTV (Free Speech TV) is starting to drop Liberal anti-American programs and replace them with Conservative/Independent shows. Could be huge. Too early to tell.
