I've got contact with quite a few brainwashed leftists and I've come to a few conclusions:

1. They are good people.

2. Most of them are fairly intelligent in areas of technical knowledge, things like chess and general trivia.

3. In the area of politics, they turn off their morality and refuse to think.

Yes, saying in my personal experience, not overall.. I'm just saying anecdotally, they are not villains, but when the subject of politics is brought up, they turn into non-thinking angry mind controlled Stepford people. Amazing.
