Dr. Anthony Fauci on Possible HIV Cure

In an interview today, Dr. Anthony Fauci, who has led the U.S. fight against HIV for over 40 years, has a guarded reaction to the "breaking news" that scientists say they have possibly cured an American woman of HIV using a new transplant method involving umbilical cord blood.

Dr. Fauci explained to Conversations on Health Care hosts Mark Masselli and Margaret Flinter that the news is good from a conceptual perspective but that the development is "not applicable" to most of the 36 million people worldwide with HIV.
