Do not treat prophecies with contempt but test them all; hold on to what is good.

1 Thessalonians 5:20-21

I use this as a guide when I hear new information or claims. If it's not quickly apparent whether something is true or not, I give it time because time will eventually promote it or expose it. Unless obviously ludicrous, I try not to summarily dismiss a thing out of hand. Since I have biases like everyone else that color my opinions and perception, this is not always easy.

The overall test of the validity of a claim or a "prophecy" is whether or not it comes true. Judge people and information sources by that standard. Separate the wheat from the chaff to find what is good. It's a never-ending process.
