Ottawa Police Chief Warns Citizens Against Participating in “Unlawful Activities of Engaging in Demonstrations”

On Tuesday Ottawa Police Chief Peter Sloly lost his job after failing to move decisively against the Freedom Convoy Protesters who have been protesting Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s tyrannical COVID rules for three weeks in the city.

Following his resignation, Sloly was replaced by interim chief Steve Bell.

On Thursday Chief Bell told reporters the Ottawa police are “ready to use methods people are not used to seeing in the capital.”

Chief Bell then went on to ad that he will not tolerate Canadians participating in the unlawful activities of engaging in demonstrations.

Wow!

Ottawa interem Police Chief Steve Bell: Our message has been pretty clear on that. And, more importantly, ou message from our community and our residents has been pretty clear around that. Do not come to our downtown court. We are tired of what’s been happening there. We’re sick of what’s happening in our streets so leave our area. We will continue with that message this weekend. What you’re seeing is an increased enforcement presence. And we won’t be allowing people to come down for the unlawful activities of engaging in demonstrations.

And just like that — Democracy and individual rights were lost in Canada — and it only took 4 days.

Man reveals the TRUTH behind 'peephole camera' found in a tree by Covid protesters

Protest last Saturday in Canberra saw at least 20,000 anti-vaxx demonstrators

Group of eagle-eyed protesters believed they found a hidden camera in a tree

In fact, the 'camera' was an arborplug, used to help protect trees from infection

TikTok creator Don Sibley 'praised' demonstrators for jumping to conclusions

His clip has since amassed close to 250,000 views on video sharing platform

A man has revealed the truth behind the 'hidden cameras and microphones' that were 'discovered' by anti-vaccination protestors in a tree in Canberra.

Bizarre footage, uploaded to social media last week, showed protesters whip themselves into a frenzy over an alleged 'hidden camera'.

But Don Sibley quickly dispelled those rumours, sharing on TikTok that the device was actually an arborplug, which are used to help protect trees from infection.

He sarcastically praised the demonstrators for jumping the gun and forming a dramatic - and incorrect - conclusion in a video which has since earnt almost 250,000 views online.

Survey reveals one in five Australians quit their job last year, one in four consider leaving with COVID-19 shifting expectations

The COVID-19 pandemic, poor work-life balance and the risk of burnout are key drivers as to why Australian workers have been considering leaving their place of employment.

One in five Australians have quit their jobs within the last year and almost a quarter are considering leaving their place of employment.

A new survey conducted by the National Australia Bank (NAB) shows that of Australians considering changing jobs, more than one in three said COVID-19 had a big impact on their decision.

The survey found 30 per cent of workers indicated they were changing jobs due to a lack of personal fulfillment, 29 per cent said it was because of a lack of career growth, the impact of their current job on their mental health (29 per cent), and poor pay (27 per cent).

Other key drivers include poor work-life balance (23 per cent), burnout (22 per cent) and feeling like a fresh start (20 per cent).

Executive for NAB Business Bank Julie Rynski says three in ten Australians are planning to change industries.

"Clearly the pandemic has shifted the expectations of Australian workers and this research suggests employers now need to work harder to retain talent," she said.

Doxed Ontario Staffer Loses Job over $100 Donation to Freedom Convoy

Marion Isabeau-Ringuette, who until last weekend was director of communications for the office of Solicitor-General Sylvia Jones in Canada’s Ontario province, is one of several government staffers to lose their jobs after hackers exposed the list of Freedom Convoy donors from U.S. crowdfunding website GiveSendGo.

The details of Isabeau-Ringuette’s departure were murky in CTV’s report Wednesday:

“For the communications director to be financially supporting an unlawful, illegal occupation is definitely concerning,” said NDP MPP Catherine Fife.

“Who was donating, why were they donating, and did this contribute to the non-action that happened on the ground in Ottawa?” she said.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s spokesperson Ivana Yelich did not elaborate in a brief statement to reporters.

“Ms. Isabeau-Ringuette no longer works for the Ontario government,” Yelich said. “We are not commenting any further as this is a staffing matter.”

Isabeau-Ringuette’s LinkedIn page said she worked as press secretary for the Solicitor-General in 2019 before becoming communications director in February 2020. Her last official communication was on Sunday, when she helped issue a press release advising Ontario residents to keep their pets warm during extreme cold weather.

The Toronto Star described her as “affable and well-liked at Queen’s Park.” It said her exposure as a Freedom Convoy supporter was “especially embarrassing to the Ford government, since Jones’s ministry has been deeply involved in the protest that has left Ottawa blockaded for almost three weeks.”

Global News quoted opposition leaders demanding more firings over donations to the Freedom Convoy, reporting some queasiness about the possibility of the witch hunt getting out of hand:

Duff Conacher with Democracy Watch said the firing within the solicitor-general’s office was justified. “Cabinet staff serve at the pleasure of the minister and can be fired for any reason, including optics like this,” he said.

But Conacher warns employers, including the government officials, need to be careful when it comes to doling out punishments for online fundraisers.

“When you’re donating to a group that protests, it may not be the organizing group that you donated to that actually did the illegal activity,” said Conacher. “It could be people showing up to sabotage the protest.”

In Isabeau-Ringuette’s case, her donation was logged by GiveSendGo using only her initials “M.R.”, but the hacked data file included an email address that revealed her full name.

Bill Gates receives top honor

The billionaire tech entrepreneur was granted the ‘Crescent of Pakistan’ for his philanthropy

Pakistan has honored Microsoft founder Bill Gates with a prestigious civilian award for his foundation’s work to fight diseases like tuberculosis and polio, granting him the prize during a visit to Islamabad.

Gates received the Hilal-e-Pakistan (Crescent of Pakistan) award – the nation’s second-highest civilian honor – after meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday. President Arif Alvi personally handed him the prize during a televised ceremony. Gates received the distinction “in recognition of his work to alleviate poverty and diseases,” according to the Associated Press.

The award is granted only once each year by the president and is not limited to Pakistani citizens, open to anyone who contributes to the country’s national interests, culture “or other significant public or private endeavors.”

Gates and his non-profit, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, have worked for years to eradicate diseases like polio in Pakistan, with only a single case of the illness reported last year.

Prime Minister Khan also marked the occasion with a tweet, sharing a photo of himself with the billionaire while thanking him for “his immense contribution.” Cabinet Minister Faisal Javed Khan, meanwhile, said Gates was granted a “well deserved honor” for his “valuable, exceptional and extraordinary services fighting poverty, disease, and inequity around the world.”
