It's a observed opinion on an already established school of thought. He's right that religion issues doctrine on ideas and behaviors for its followers. No where is he saying this is right you're wrong.

I'm not heated with you. Religion claims to "already know" when we really don't know anything about actual divinity aside from what we can interpret through our own experience.
Providing people who are "lost" spiritually with a guiding ideology can be dangerous when it's suggesting to have all the answers. People should be free to develop their own perceptions about spiritually with the assistance of religion.
As it is today religion is set up to be the logos of spirituality, when in reality its a guided set of morals. He limited himself in the same way religion limits your sense of belief.
