77 Years ago, 19 February 1945, my Dad hit Green Beach 1 with the 2 Bn 28th Reg 5th Division

Yes. I forgot about that. The entire 5th Division was formed and trained in California and Hawaii for Iwo Jima. Of course the men did not know until they were on the ships headed to their destination.
