France withdrawing troops from Mali.
On Feb. 17, President Emmanuel Macron announced his decision to withdrawal French forces from Mali. These troops form part of Operation Barkhane, a French anti-jihadist operation primarily focused on Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger. A linked European special forces task force, Takuba, will withdraw as well, with both groups recentering their activities in neighboring Niger. This follows a major escalation in tensions between Paris and Bamako in recent months, which included exchanges of insults culminating in the expulsion of the French ambassador.

NGO Claims 250,000 Young Nigerians Undergoing Sexual, Labour Exploitations in Mali
A Non-governmental Organisation (NGO), Network Against Child Trafficking, Abuse and Labour (NACTAL) has raised the alarm that over 250, 000 young Nigerian boys and girls are currently undergoing various forms of exploitations including sexual and labour in different places in Mali.
The National President of the network, Mr. AbduGaniyu Abubakar who made the disclosure on Sunday, in Abuja, however called on the federal government and other relevant authorities including civil groups to do everything humanly possible to rescue them.
