Pretty much, yeah.

Buy a, ironically, Google Pixel and install GrapheneOS or CalyxOS.

LineageOS supports many more devices and not exclusively Pixel.

Completely deGaggled.

Aurora, an anonymous "middleman" between You and Google Play, and F-Droid will get you your wanted apps.

I don't bother with Aurora, however.

If you insist on using GMail, you can pipe it through K9-Mail since your now deGoogled device doesn't support Google supplied spyware backends anymore.

As fas as your PC goes, Install Linux.

Mint is a good choice.

I just did this for my step-father the other day after he was complaining about turning on his laptop and having to wait almost two hours for Windo$e to "update" and install more spyware/bloat before being "usable" again.

A few hours of showing him around the OS and finding alternatives for his "must-have" applications and he couldn't be happier.

He was astonished when I fired up the live USB installer, clicked Install Mint, and updated the OS in under fifteen minutes.

The last time he installed Windo$e, like five years ago, he said it took him about seven hours.

You CAN decouple from BiGTech, but only if you're willing to stop being lazy by trusting them to do the right thing. They've proven time and again that they won't.

Learning is sometimes painful. But it's necessary if you wish to remain free.
