Random thought occured while reading your post but weapons in Space is on a legally different playing field since it's Laws of the Land and not Laws of the Universe. They avoid negative karma because what's the rule where you can't kill someone from outer space? Anyways something like that.
From space you wouldn't use LRAD since as another anon mentioned in propagates through air. Superpowers use DEWs (Direct Energy Weapons) from outer-space which is highly concentrated laser/light beams. Basically a military-grade, high-powered laser-pen.
All good, it's always starts as a theory until it's not. This is a research board after-all.
