Hey I posted I met a guy that was on a submarine in the navy for twenty years he told me the most realistic movie about subs was “Down Periscope”. anon responded thats a comedy.

I met him this again this afternoon and said why is “Down Periscope” most realistic, its a comedy?.

“He said, no I really meant that!” You are in this metal tube, under water 200+ people, you have to accept it and trust those around you and all those pranks in the movie is what we did! If someone really irritated us, we’d tape him to the stairs, and we’d do worse. He said you were trapped inside this place, get used to it, and do things to make you laugh. And you always relied on each other.

So as far as being in a sub I guess in order to have fun, you make up your own comedy, and not everything is “The Hunt for Rec October”! But he agreed one of the best movies made along with “Crimson Tide”!

Its really fascinating to know what soldiers and sailors go through in their training.
