The worse thing that could have happened was a drawn-out conflict between Ukraine and separatist forces, which would have been a proxy war between NATO and Russia. It would've allowed Biden time to build political capital and garner more support from the conservative warhawks. In one night Putin took away all of that - the deep state playground of financial/corporate fuckery is gone, Biden looks like a giant loser in the process, and Trump comes out clean as a whistle. If military conflict was inevitable, it appears to have worked out in the best possible way.
But now what about Taiwan?
