MADISON - President Joe Biden will return to Wisconsin next week to detail how a $1 trillion infrastructure law he last visited the Badger State to promote before its passage will improve the state's roads, bridges and job market.

Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will visit Superior on Wednesday — his first trip to Wisconsin in eight months and one that comes as the Republican-controlled Legislature is passing new rules for voting and election administration in response to pressure from former President Donald Trump and his supporters who say Biden did not legitimately win his presidency.

Biden plans to discuss how the bipartisan infrastructure law will improve economy and transportation needs. He signed the sweeping bipartisan infrastructure package into law in November, completing the most significant legislative victory of his presidency and the largest investment in the country’s infrastructure in decades.

HURRICANE, Utah (ABC4) – The Department of Interior is dispersing $1.7 billion to fulfill water rights settlements with 12 Native American groups in Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Montana, but some leaders say the money is long overdue and may not be enough.

Water and electricity are something many people can take for granted but it’s something that’s hard to come by within Navajo Nation’s boundaries.

“Some of these water wells that a lot of farmers collect water from are contaminated with a lot of heavy metals such as solanum, uranium, and on and on and on,” says Woody Lee, the Executive Director for Utah Diné Bikéyah Non-Profit.

The $5 billion NEVI Formula Program is the cornerstone of $7.5 billion in electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure funding made available by the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). This funding aims to provide a network of 500,000 ultra-fast EV charging stations along the nation’s travel corridors to help make cross-country electric travel accessible to all Americans. The remaining $2.5 billion will be announced later this year.

Last November, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) was signed codifying the IIJA. On February 10, 2022, the U.S. Departments of Transportation and Energy released guidance to states for the NEVI Program including background information, funding eligibility, and program guidance. The Joint Office of Energy and Transportation was created to align resources and provide support to ensure efficient, effective, and equitable distribution of funds. Additionally, the White House released the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Guidebook, a comprehensive guide that contains information about all the programs included in the BIL-including several other electric transportation-related programs.

EVERGREEN, Colo. (KDVR) — More and more drivers are opting to buy electric vehicles. The question is: Does Colorado have the infrastructure to support an influx of those kinds of cars?

U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is visiting Colorado Thursday and Friday. Buttigieg focused on two things Thursday: Infrastructure improvements to highways like Interstate 70 and making sure Colorado and the nation are ready for a green future.

“States like Colorado are especially well-positioned to hit the ground running and take advantage of the federal legislation and the federal funding,” Buttigieg said at a press conference Thursday.
