'My mom was my hero' - NYPD Det. Familia's legacy lives on 4 years after her death

Monday marks four years since NYPD Det. Miosotis Familia was killed in the line of duty. Family, friends and fellow officers spent the day honoring her life.

A 12-year veteran of the NYPD, Familia had just started her overnight shift on July 5, 2017 sitting in a Fordham mobile command center when someone walked up to the side window and shot her. The mother of three was killed instantly.

"We idolized her, and with true adoration," says Genesis Familia, Miosotis' daughter. "My mom was my hero, and we would call her supermom."
