It is a worthy point, and I've been asking myself the following:
Since the fall of the USSR, has Russia demonstrated any tendencies toward domination, retribution, etc.? Have they sought to advance weapons up to Germany's doorstep? No.
They have flirted around with Venezuela and NK, but nothing in Europe that I can remember.
