Marks are, of course, regular people who exist only to be taken advantage of by carnies. Kayfabe is the hallmark of Professional Wrestling, totally fake, scripted, and fixed matches with thousands of screaming marks rooting for "their guy" to win.
Politics is rife with kayfabe because it is a cesspool of scum and villains who get fat and rich of of "pretending" to represent their electorate.
