I've been arguing with Brits all day. They REALLY don't get it. I keep being told that I'm missing the point, that the press ban is "only during the trial. Once there is a verdict people can report anything they want." I'm so fucking flabbergasted by this response! They have been completely oblivious when I tell them once you give up your rights, you're NOT getting them back! It's just painful to watch!!!
Some fine tuning :
A "private" business that makes cakes does NOT have ANY obligation to create ANY work they find objectionable. I've always been fairly certain these people wouldn't have made a tittie cake either. Doesn't matter. In a "no shirt, no shoes, no service" kind of way, they have the right to refuse any patron they so desire. If the market objects, they go out of business.
This is NOT the same as a service provider, phone company, or other communication tech forum or platform that has created a technological environment where they ALONE have sole control. It's a Ma Bell situation where they have set themselves up legislatively, contractually and financially in such a way the NO ONE could POSSIBLY compete. Considering these forums are the SOLE PROVIDERS of these communication services they must be viewed differently. They should not have the power to control what MESSAGES come across their lines. So… Old-school deregulation to allow for competition OR chill the fuck out, be neutral, and let the market sort itself out.
Personally, I believe they are headed to degregulation if only to assuage the Civil disruptions headed our way.
