I see what you are saying there. I guess if you don't ask the question though, would you still observe the answer? (think of Neo with the Oracle and vase) Which is why I'm saying keep it innocuous, no harm, no foul. I don't go out believing the answer will be provided I go out observing with questions in mind. The first step is just wanting the answer, or asking the question. Then the method will lend to itself. I'm along the same lines with you as far as my thoughts on control mechanisms. You are in control of your mind, if you choose to be. I fully understand I have breathtaking trust issues and immense defense mechanisms.
