The J. Edgar Hoover when Director of FBI aided and facilitated subversive and traitorous actions before during and after WW2.

Rev Coughlin preached anti-comunist pro nazi rhetoric out of his headquarters in Royal Oak Michigan starting in the late 30's. In addition to his sermons at local churches etc, he also published a magazine called Social Justice and did radio spots. The FBI files are full of examples of his absolutely anti-American rhetoric.

People started complaining about him to the FBI Director shortly after starting with Marine Gen Smedley Butler. Butler is famous for exposing The Business Plot of 1933. A powerful group of American Industrialists who were both financing and facilitating the NAzi war machine. (see MacCormack Dickstein Committee or The Committee of Un-American Activities)

Apparently Rev Coughlin had approached Gen Butler about leading un unknown army in Mexico of 260,000 men to do something. There was some talk about having arms suppiles here to supply them with. There was also some some implying of the removal of the sitting President of that time, but not by Coughlin. This was all known to Hoover as the reports of Coughlins activities come pouring in.

FBI Director ignores ALL requests for information or investigation from 1939 into the 70's They are approached for the records in the 60's and 70's for thesis and biography works. Still refused. FBI is accused of taking Coughlins private papers. They deny. Witnesses to Coughlins activities are paid more attention. Those they check out.

All agencies are refused any real records. Only surveillance reports of his sermons were sent to any requests from officials. Citizens ignored completely. USAG, State Dept, DNI.

There was talk of a secret grand jury indictment in DC, altho there was no documents related to that. There are also accusations of a deal between the Church and the FBI that there will be no prosecution of Coughlin as long as the Church reigns him in when necessary. Finally, dockworkers that had previously made a report to the FBI about Coughlins activities on the dock went to someone who took it to the DNI.

The FBIs version reports about propaganda handed out at the docks but the DNI gets the version where Coughlin meets a Nazi sub off the coast of Long Beach and off the Florida coast as well.

The FBI report did not include this and so The FBI director was forced to launch some investigation. This was before and during the War.

When the FBI Director finally asked his field offices to send them what they had, along with reports from various agencies that had requested investigations, it was found that Rev Coughlin was accused of the following activities:

In addition to his speaking openly of revolution, Rev Coughlin had many followers to his MAg Social Justice, which after Pearl Harbor was changed to the CHristian front, which had already infiltrated most of the civil defense services.

Coughlins goal was to merge all the subversive groups in America into one group. He stayed scarce after Pearl HArbor but then reappeared under the protection of the Church. They facilitated meeting places for him, including Carnegie Hall.

He was showing up near or at companies with National Security significance under other names AND bought into an ammo company under another name.

He was suspected of sabotage in the ammo Co.

He opened schools for boys and girls in the US and then spread into Mexico and possibly Latin America.

HE ran the boys school but the Church ran the girls school Coughlin had access to both.

Coughlin and his secretary/personal assistant were both seeing a prominent Royal Oaks psychiatrist about a sexual issue.

Coughlin was accused of infiltrating the armed forces by many and confidentially by Col Bissell of the War Dept.

Coughlin was caught hanging around Douglas Aircraft

Coughlin was seen depositing large sums of money in foreign banks and taking money from Nazi related people.

There was talk of stolen weapons from a US armory

There were references in his file connecting him to Congressmen and Corporate businessmen with whom he had influence.

J Edgar Hoover was informed more than once that Coughlin could easily have been taken down from tax evasion. He declined.

Coughlin was broadcasting out of Axis owned stations in Mexico.

Most interestingly, The University of Chicago was one of the last complaints filed. Coughlin was accused of spreading anti american communist rhetoric there.

Rev Charles Coughlin was the George Soros of the 1930s as far as infiltration. In fact Soros is now probably taking advantage of everything Coughlin built. Coughlins main goal was to infiltrate all the civil and military services. All of this took place directly before and during World War 2.
