Sen. Lindsey Graham will support President-elect Joe Biden’s nominee to lead the CIA, he announced in the hours after the pick was revealed.
In a series of tweets Monday, shortly after Biden announced William Burns as his choice for CIA director, Graham (R-SC) lavished praise on the veteran diplomat and early architect of the Iran deal.
“Bill Burns is an outstanding choice to be the next Director of the CIA,” the South Carolina senator tweeted. “I have known him for years. He has a deep understanding of the threats our nation faces throughout the world.”
Calling him a “well-known, seasoned diplomat and respected figure in the intelligence community,” Graham said Burns would “be a steady hand at the helm of the CIA” and compared him to outgoing CIA Director Gina Haspel.
“I look forward to supporting his nomination,” his second tweet closed.
Burns, a former ambassador to Russia and Jordan and a deputy secretary of state, was most recently known for the critical role he played in brokering the Iran nuclear deal for the Obama administration.

Graham on Release of CIA 'Torture' Report

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) today made this statement on the release of a Senate Intelligence Committee report regarding the CIA's post-9/11 interrogation techniques.
On Timing and Release of the Report:
"The timing of the release is problematic given the growing threats we face. Terrorism is on the rise, and our enemies will seize upon this report at a critical time. Simply put, this is not the time to release the report.
"I believe its release at this time is politically motivated. I have no doubts that it will create problems for our country and the men and women serving our nation around the globe."
On Support for Investigating CIA Interrogation Techniques:
"As a military lawyer for more than 30 years, I believe we can and must fight this war within our values. I supported the investigation of the CIA as the problems of interrogation policies were obvious to me. I do not condone torture and continue to believe abusive detention and interrogation techniques used in the past were counterproductive. I'm very happy the techniques in question are no longer utilized."
On Obama Administration Detention and Interrogation Policies:
"We have now gone from one extreme to the other. We've gone from waterboarding to reading Miranda Rights and providing taxpayer funded lawyers to foreign terror suspects within days of capture. In addition, we no longer hold and lawfully interrogate High Value Targets who can provide valuable intelligence to prevent future attacks.
"The policies the Obama Administration has employed treats terrorists as common criminals, not enemy combatants. I'm convinced their criminalization of the war is causing our nation to lose valued intelligence which can help protect our nation."

That territory was integral part of Russia, and part of the Russian Empire, for more than 240 years, since the 1700’s.
The 2014 Coup in Ukraine was organized by the CIA and by John Brennan, then CIA Director.
In the Coup were involved:
Barack Obama, who authorized the operation
Joe Biden, then Vice President
John Kerry, Secretary of State
Victoria Nuland, State Department
Eric Ciaramella, CIA Operative (a Brennan boy).
and George Soros, with his NGO propaganda and riot organizations.
The aim of the Coup was to overthrow the pro-Russia government in Ukraine, and replace it with a pro-NATO puppet government.
A direct menace to Russia.

Ukraine never existed as a Nation: it has always been part of the Russian Empire, since the 1700’s, with Empress Catherine II.
Ukraine as a nation came into existence only in December 1991, when the Russian President Boris Yeltsin ended Communism in Russia, dissolved the Soviet Union, and granted independence to Ukraine and to other former Soviet Union states.
We must add that Crimea has always been part of Russia too, since 1783, when the Russian Empress Catherine II conquered it, in a war against the Turkish Ottoman Empire.
Therefore, the claim of “Russian aggression” regarding Crimea is totally false and hypocritical: with the 2014 referendum in Crimea, Russia simply took back what was theirs for 240 years.
By the way: 97% of the Crimea population is ethnically Russian, and voted to rejoin Russia in that referendum.
But it was not just John Kerry, Obama, Joe Biden, John Brennan and the CIA behind the Coup in Ukraine.

In spite of that, he didn’t speak a word about Marie Yovanovitch during the Impeachment proceedings. Now we understand why.
